It was never something I created.
I was internally flustered, but pretended not to know and looked around, smiling.
Everyone was looking at the light orb I created with wide eyes, surprised.
“Did you use a magic stone?”
“No. I have nothing in my hand.”
Teresa and Casius, who hadn’t been warned about this in advance, looked surprised as well.
“Shall we leave then?”
And I led them slowly out of the darkened garden.
Now the problem was to make it disappear at the exact timing.
‘It’s not even something I made….’
I was worried if it could be done. As I subtly looked around and gradually closed my hand, the size of the orb naturally decreased.
When the orb disappeared completely, I turned around smiling.
“Let’s all go back then.”
Their gazes were mixed with surprise and curiosity. Surely they would spread what they saw today here and there.
‘Good. Everything is going according to plan.’
Satisfied with today’s harvest, I returned to the castle with light steps.
(This is a time separator.)
After everyone had completely left, Nathaniel made the light orb disappear as he watched Jaina withdraw her hand.
His tense and stiff back relaxed. She spoke to the other women and returned to the palace, humming a tune.
Nathaniel, watching her receding figure from afar, sighed deeply.
“What am I doing right now?”
Nathaniel did not understand his own feelings.
When he looked at her, his heart felt heavy and his insides hurt. Especially when she disparaged the woman who had sneaked into the palace in front of him, his mind went blank, and he could not speak.
‘Is it not liking?’
He had heard that when you like someone, you are content just to be with them, and whatever they say looks pretty.
But sometimes when he looked at her, he became angry, and his heart stung to the point of aching.
Nathaniel, who had learned emotions only from books, could not know what emotion he was feeling.
With no friends or close confidants, he could only worry alone.
Seeing the light in the bedroom from afar, Nathaniel sighed deeply again.
He knew that it would be bad for the couple if rumors spread that they were not getting along in this situation.
‘If only someone could tell me the right answer.’
Grumbling to himself, he moved with heavy steps. As Nathaniel, who was slowly leaving along the road, stopped at the strange presence, he asked,
“Who is it?”
The low bush shook briefly.
A little later, the person who appeared was, fortunately, someone Nathaniel knew.
“Viscount Winters?”
“It’s been a long time, Your Royal Highness the Crown Prince.”
Maximilian came forward, scratching his back head with an awkward expression. He glanced around briefly and sighed shortly.
“What are you doing here?”
“Ah. His Majesty called me to the palace, so I stopped by.”
It wouldn’t be to see Jaina since she was busy all day. Nathaniel looked at him thoughtfully, recalling Teresa who had been beside Jaina.
“You came to see that woman.”
“Ah.”
Maximilian turned his head slightly with his lips closed.
He seemed to know that it was shameful. But Nathaniel decided to pretend not to know.
He remembered Jaina lamenting that her brother had belatedly realized his feelings.
‘He’ll worry if he knows.’
After greeting him, Nathaniel, who was about to return to his room, was grabbed by Maximilian.
“Please keep this a secret from Jaina.”
“I was thinking of doing that anyway.”
Nathaniel brushed off his hand lightly and was about to go on his way, but Maximilian grabbed him again.
“What?”
Nathaniel, who did not like others’ touch, quickly showed discomfort. Maximilian was startled but soon hid his surprise.
“Thank you for treating my sister well.”
“Well, she’s my wife, so of course I’m treating her well.”
Maximilian’s eyes narrowed at his attitude, speaking as if it were a matter of course.
Something was strange.
Although they didn’t have many interactions, Maximilian was also aware of Nathaniel’s notoriety.
He knew very well how cold Nathaniel was towards women, no, people.
So when she found out about her relationship with Jaina, she doubted if he was really sincere.
‘I think he’s sincere now that I see it.’
So she felt a little relieved. Even if they weren’t in love with each other, she thought it would be comforting if they could comfort and rely on each other.
“Please continue to take good care of Jaina. She may not say pleasing things, but she doesn’t deceive or do anything wrong.”
Nathaniel was displeased with Maximilian, who seemed to know more about Jaina than himself.
“I don’t know about you, but she treats me well.”
Maximilian was sure that he had fallen completely for Jaina, at Nathaniel’s response.
Nathaniel’s face relaxed a bit, as if he was pleased with the situation he had mentioned.
“I’m just grateful you think so. I’ll continue to ask for your cooperation.”
After repeatedly leaving words of request and bowing, Maximilian tried to escape from the garden.
But this time, Nathaniel grabbed him.
Nathaniel’s face was quite serious, unlike before.
“What… is the matter?”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
