“What was that sound?”

Ian looked around in surprise. But the warehouse was quiet, with no sign of anyone.

[But at least the floor’s been restored.]

This time, a girl’s voice.

Hearing the voice echo in his mind, Ian immediately shifted his gaze to one spot—the mirror.

He had thought it was still pitch-black and reflecting nothing, but he was wrong. Someone was within the shadow. Ian stared at the wavering edge of the shadow near the mirror’s frame, looking up from below.

The shadow’s owner moved slightly, revealing a face that resembled a squirrel.

The squirrel seemed to be standing on something connected to the mirror.

‘It’s that squirrel.’

The same squirrel he’d seen in the mirror months ago. After that first sighting, he’d occasionally checked the mirror, hoping to see it again—but never succeeded.

But now, he could see it.

Feeling delighted, Ian stepped closer to the mirror. Then he witnessed something unbelievable.

“The squirrel is talking.”

Oops—startled by his own unintentional words, Ian clapped a hand over his mouth. But it was too late. Hearing his voice, the other side of the mirror fell silent.
