However, Marquis Sardia did not listen to those words. He was the kind of person who, if he didn’t want to hear something, would let it in one ear and out the other.
He moved to the reception room and took a seat on the sofa, ignoring Blake’s words.
On the opposite side, Blake and Liche, sitting side by side, looked at Marquis Sardia.
“What’s the reason for coming?”
“Purification, perhaps?”
Anyone who hears this would think he entrusted it to them.
Blake was uncomfortable but didn’t answer. Liche’s ability was not his. Neither rejection nor acceptance. It belonged to Liche.
Fortunately, Liche shook her head at Marquis Sardia.
“Not now.”
She was telling the truth.
Since Pythons went to the grave to recover, she couldn’t purify the abilities users until he came back.
Although she could endure the pain, Marquis Sardia’s life was not in immediate danger due to his energy. It was better to refuse.
‘Did he come through the forest? Sorry for coming all this way.’
Since he didn’t cross the forest like Zeke, Marquis Sardia came a long way to see himself.
He seemed sorry for making a false step.
Liche looked at Marquis Sardia, who was interested in her.
“……?”
“Why is that, Marquis Sardia?”
Blake asked, reaching out one arm to block Liche’s face from Marquis Sardia’s view.
“Is she your daughter? She’ll become quite a beauty when she grows up.”
What’s he trying to say?
Even if Marquis Sardia didn’t explicitly praise, everyone knew the fact.
Not only beautiful but also lovely. Moreover, she was smart. Her outstanding magical talent went without saying. To talk about how good his daughter was, it would be insufficient even if he stayed up all night.
Blake looked at Marquis Sardia. If he was going to have this obvious conversation, he wished he would leave now.
However, Marquis Sardia probably didn’t catch Blake’s hint. He was in the middle of a conversation with Liche beyond Blake’s arm.
“Friends with Zekebert?”
“Yes.”
“Then, how about getting them married?”
Without context, Blake stood up abruptly. He’s gone mad. Marquis Sardia.
The eyes of dozens in the reception room all turned to Marquis Sardia at the out-of-context remark.
Even with the atmosphere of Ludwick, who was hostile to himself, Marquis Sardia naturally raised his chin, ignoring the hostile atmosphere.
“My child is not the type to easily fall for someone. What do you think, Lord Ludwick? It’s not a bad idea, is it?”
The sarcasm was silent.
The person accused, Liche, sat dumbfounded, watching the situation.
‘Adults’ jokes are really like this.’
As Anna said.
She suffered from a headache when people around her complained that she indiscriminately attached someone she knew as a marriage partner.
“It’s all nonsense. It’s just because they’re similar in age and get along well.”
Anna shook her head, saying there was no need to listen to the frank truth.
Moreover, Liche was only ten years old. So, Marquis Sardia must be joking about herself and Zekebert.
“I can’t give my daughter to just anyone.”
Until Blake stood up from his seat, he was genuinely on guard against Marquis Sardia.
But Marquis Sardia was no different from joking.
“My son is not just anyone! He’s the heir to the Marquis of the Roksha Empire! Oh, did I say that? I got a call from Zekebert a while ago, asking if he would be interested in being engaged to the princess.”
“Good. Then you can get engaged to the princess. Don’t touch my daughter. …And that mere Marquis successor.”
To think that merely offering the position of a Marquis successor is all he can offer, looking down on Liche.
There’s nothing more to say to this person. If Marquis Sardia has no intention of leaving the castle, it’s better for him to move Liche to another location.
Blake tried to pick up Liche and leave.
However, Marquis Sardia once again grabbed Blake’s foot.
“Still, you know. Isn’t it better to get married to someone you like? My son says he likes her. Your daughter.”
“As a friend, I suppose.”
If it were a different topic, he would have left the reception room by now.
Blake, irritated by the fact that Liche’s name was mentioned, responded to Marquis Sardia once again.
Standing on one side in the reception room, Jed looked at Blake with a sly smile.
‘Our lord, he doesn’t even want to hear a word about Miss Liche.’
Being a doting father is scary.
‘I don’t know why Marquis Sardia is like this. Even if he keeps provoking our lord with Miss Liche, it won’t end well.’
May you go in peace, Marquis Sardia.
While Jed was sighing in relief, the strange confrontation between the two Marquises continued even during a brief intermission.
“As a friend? Zekebert said he would be okay with marrying your daughter, didn’t he?”
The moment Marquis Sardia spoke to Blake.
Creak.
Ice began to form on the floor in an instant.
Ice so shallow that it would crack if stepped on.
Liche followed the frozen ice that stopped at Blake’s feet with her eyes. Robenhaf was standing by the door of the reception room.
Was today the day he came to visit. Just when Liche was about to wave her hand in greeting.
“Robenhaf.”
“Me too.”
It was always a cheerful sociable smile, but the facial muscles were slightly tense.
Stepping on the crunchy ice, Robenhaf walked towards Blake and Liche.
After approaching a certain distance, Robenhaf stopped walking and opened his mouth.
“I want to marry with Tari Che. Lord Ludwick.”
“…What?”
“What do you… want to do?”
“…?”
Liche, Blake, Marquis Sardia, and other people in the reception room.
They witnessed Robenhaf, who informed Blake of his marriage to Liche in real-time.
The servant of the Hevetsman family, who followed his master with a turned head, couldn’t bear to watch the scene.
“I… won’t… do it.”
Then came the bewildered voice from Liche.
A dreadful silence sank in. Marquis Sardia even discreetly looked away, avoiding Robenhaf’s gaze.
“I won’t… do it.”
Following Liche’s bewildered voice, a horrendous silence took over. Even Marquis Sardia discreetly shifted his gaze away from Robenhaf, who had been rejected before even proposing.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
