I Became a Supporting Character in a Martial Arts Novel (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 23
Things like sorcery and talismans are usually more associated with the Evil Sects than the orthodox sects. However, since Mount Hua is a Dao Sect, they occasionally receive requests from Dao disciples, and common folk sometimes submit exorcism requests against malevolent spirits.
Yet, most of the problems for which common folk came asking for help—believing them to be the work of ghosts—actually stemmed from what was commonly called dark arts: curses.
Thus, Mount Hua even had its own specialists who researched talismans and sorcery to counter such curses and took charge whenever a genuine Dao disciple was truly needed.
It was similar to how there was a separate Medical Pavilion dedicated to treating the injured and preparing medicines.
‘Since Master doesn’t deal with such things, I never learned them either….’
Still, if I looked into sorcery somehow, maybe I’d find something useful?
Just as I tried to grasp at that sliver of hope and rack my brain, fate—as if unable to bear seeing me come up with a good idea—suddenly struck me with an ominous possibility.
‘What if, in the process, they discover that I’m not the real owner of this body and that I’m actually a possessing spirit who’s investigating these things…?’
I suddenly felt dizzy.
Most likely, everyone in the sect would think, “Oh, she’s gone crazy again.” And I had precedent for it—I’d even asked my would-be Master, “Who are you?” right after waking up.
‘Come to think of it, it’s been exactly one year since then.’
I couldn’t afford to be treated as a disciple who’d gone mad again after just one year.
And worse, if they not only found out but also confirmed the truth behind the words, “I am not the rightful owner of this body; I’ve actually possessed it…”—
‘I’d be branded as an evil person who stole someone else’s body and locked away in chains that very day.’
Now that I thought about it, the dark art enabling a soul to enter another’s body was simply called the “Soul Transference Technique” in four characters—a technique regarded even among Evil Sects as the vilest of the vile…

Xin Jiao Zhou is the leader of the world’s premier sect. She has just experienced betrayal from all sides, was poisoned in an assassination attempt, and faced death squad attacks while the poison was taking effect. After finally clearing out the scum from her sect, she was drugged again while trying to detoxify.
After waking up from a night of unconsciousness, she gained a “beautiful and kind-hearted” husband.
Xin Jiao Zhou: “???”
He fell ill.
She came to see him, bringing breakfast.
As she put down the breakfast and was about to leave, his hand slipped while holding the spoon. “Clank!”
She turned around upon hearing the noise.
He looked up at her, his eyebrows drooping: “My hand… has no strength.”
“Shall I… feed you?” she asked tentatively.
He opened his mouth cheerfully: “Ah—”
Thinking she was drowning, he jumped in without hesitation to save her, but nearly drowned himself. In the end, it was she who swam over to rescue him, giving him air underwater.
After emerging from the water, his ear tips turned red. He lightly brushed his cheek, tucking his sideburns behind his ear, revealing delicate, pink-tinged ear tips. He lowered his gaze, too embarrassed to look at her.
Xin Jiao Zhou: He’s truly beautiful, kind-hearted, and adorable.

What? She met a man by the riverside? What? That man even hurt her? A certain someone: Whichever hand hurt her, chop off his entire arm.

Made me feel even more sorry for the original owner of this body.
True…I had a similar thought. It’s very heartbreaking to think about that she was actually controlled and commited suicide when we came to realization in the end

There’s that junior disciple.
I think the address needs to be changed in a previous chapter where she was addressed as junior.
