“Grandma, what on earth happened!”

Emergency room at the hospital.

Contrary to Hyo Jin’s worries, Grandma was perfectly fine.

She’d simply stumbled while dodging a passing car, startling her muscles a bit.

But waiting ahead was an issue far more serious than nearly getting hit by a car.

“The driver honked because Grandma couldn’t hear, yet she didn’t move out of the way at all.”

The doctor she met in the consultation room delivered shocking news out of the blue.

“What? She can’t hear?”

That’s strange. Just a few days ago, she’d shown no issues whatsoever.

“She’s actually had trouble hearing with her left ear since six months ago, so at first she visited an ENT clinic.”

But they found nothing physically wrong with her ears and dismissed it as temporary fatigue-induced symptoms.

As the episodes grew more frequent, she obtained a referral letter and visited a university hospital, where they discovered a brain tumor already large enough to compress even her right auditory nerve.

“Fortunately, it’s not malignant—but if left untreated, it could turn cancerous and cause even bigger problems. Right now, only one ear has hearing loss, but eventually, she could lose all hearing entirely.”

“I recommended immediate removal, but the patient refused. I suspect the surgery cost is too burdensome.”
