Knowing that such an excuse wouldn’t work on a woman who had come this far to do such a thing, Hyo Jin chose to ignore her and waited for her to leave.
“How much do you make a month at Sangrimwon? I will give you that salary, so leave that house immediately.”
“You should be the one to stop talking nonsense and leave. I don’t know who told you what to come here and do this, but let’s talk outside so you don’t cause a scene in someone else’s business place.”
Being aware of the peeping glances from the people around her, Hyo Jin tried to avoid the confrontation for the moment.
“Where are you running off to? I guess you aren’t ashamed of yourself, huh? Everyone! Look at this woman, she is an adulteress trying to seduce a man who is about to be married!”
Hyo Jin covered the woman’s mouth with her hand and clenched her teeth.
“Lower your voice. Why are you acting so childish for your age? Don’t you know this will harm Seung Yul?”
This was a cafe near the school. If there were mothers from the same class as the baby, it was only a matter of time before Seung Yul was humiliated at school.
The woman tore off Hyo Jin’s hand and shoved her to the ground.
“How dare you touch me with your filthy hands? You scammer, X. It must have been fun to scheme with Seung Yul and make a fool of my daughter? Despite being no better than my daughter. Don’t you have a conscience?”

Ha. Daughter, you say? Could it be Announcer Kang Hanna?
No wonder she seemed somewhat familiar from the first time I saw her. Since she couldn’t cause a scene because her face was known, did she send her mother as a substitute?
“That’s right. Of course, I will look inferior in your eyes compared to your daughter. I admit it.”
Hyo Jin brushed her bangs, stood up straight like a dwarf, and boldly met her gaze.
Identifying who the opponent was at least gave her a surge of combativeness.
“However, in my mother’s eyes, your daughter would seem far more pitiful and inferior, wouldn’t she?”
“What? You lure a man engaged to someone else without a shred of shame, your mother would’ve never known you’d grow up to be an adulteress, she must have had seaweed soup after giving birth to you.”
The woman who had been grabbing Hyo Jin’s hair abruptly recoiled as if she had seen a ghost.
“Seung Yul?”
What, Seung Yul?

At that sound, Hyo Jin, too, turned around in surprise.
“Why is Isabelle here?”
It was Seung Yul. Even if he had his face covered with a scarf, he was easily recognizable.
‘The child who was born after devouring my mother.’
The person who first awakened her to that fact when she had innocently gone to Singapore was none other than the mother of Announcer Kang Hanna.
Five years ago, Seung Yul, who had attended a family dinner of the law firm where his father worked, clearly remembered her murmuring voice among the people.
Her voice, which would change as if she had put on a mask the moment she turned around, despite introducing herself warmly as Isabelle to him.
Standing in front of a fountain that spouted cool streams of water, the child who discovered that he was a monster born after devouring his mother, no longer waited for his father.
He no longer wondered why he lived with his grandmother in Singapore or why his father looked at him that way.
Because I am a child born after devouring my mother. The fact that this woman would become his paternal grandmother once his father married drove Seung Yul further into despair.

“Seung Yul.”
The woman who had covered her head and face with a scarf to avoid drawing attention dropped Hyo Jin’s hair from her hand in surprise upon hearing her name.
Being caught in such a despicable act by her baby was a situation she hadn’t calculated.
“Seung Yul. What are you doing here when you should be at school?”
She was sure he had gone to school.
Hyo Jin, too, was taken aback, her eyes shaking.
Showing a child such a scene wouldn’t be good for their education.
“I saw this lady following mom through the window, so I was worried.”
“What?”
The woman named Isabelle doubted her own ears.

“What did you just say to this woman? Mom?”

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.
In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.
