Gyo Hwan, sitting in the driver’s seat, took a moment to catch his breath before getting out of the car.
As I translated the passage, I kept track of the character names and genders as follows:
깊이 숨을 들이마시자 차가운 강바람의 공기가 분노로 뜨거워진 폐부의 열기를 식혔다.
(Seung Won, Male)
“치료하셔야죠. 손.”
(Hyo Jin, Female)
(Hyo Jin, Female)
“여기서 이럴 게 아니라 빨리 병원에 가셔야 하는 거 아니에요?”
(Hyo Jin, Female)
(Hyo Jin, Female)
“왜 만났습니까? 내가 찾아와도 만나지 못하게 접근 금지를 신청했다고 했잖아요.”
(Seung Won, Male)
(Hyo Jin, Female)

(Hyo Jin, Female)
“이미 한 번은 만나게 될 거라고 예상했어요. 당연히 나 때문에 헤어졌다고 생각할 테니까.”
(Seung Won, Male)
(Seung Won, Male)
“나는 괜찮지 않습니다.”
(Seung Won, Male)
(Seung Won, Male)
“그러지 말고, 빨리 병원에 가요.”
(Hyo Jin, Female)
(Hyo Jin, Female)
“내가 왜 좋아요?”
(Seung Won, Male)
“네?”
(Hyo Jin, Female)
“대답해 봐요. 나 같은 사람을 왜 좋다고 했는지.”
(Seung Won, Male)

(Hyo Jin, Female)
“아버님, 그 전에 손……!”
(Hyo Jin, Female)
“I’m a single father with a 9yearold daughter, and as Kang Han Na said, I’m older than Teacher Bong. I can’t forget my deceased exwife. But why do I like you?”
“Father…!”
Hyo Jin tried to explain again, but Gyo Hwan remained firm, as if he would never budge.
“Even I don’t know. Why do I like a father like you?”
He’s so stubborn and won’t listen.
“Initially, I wanted to help you, Father, who didn’t know how to love despite loving Seung Yul.”
With the priority being the treatment of wounds, Hyo Jin anxiously spoke.

It felt like a ticking clock in her ear, as if a bomb would explode if she didn’t find the answer in the given time.
“But…I keep thinking about you. I’m curious when I don’t see you, and even when you’re not around, it feels like you’re there.”
“So?”
Ugh, frustrating. It felt like playing twenty questions with Gyo Hwan, who still didn’t understand the answer.
“You’re older than me, Father.”
Hyo Jin spoke as if urging for something to happen.
“You’re more capable, have more money. Moreover, you’re goodlooking, tall, and dress well. I can forgive an ugly man, but I can never forgive a man who can’t dress. But you look amazing in a long coat, Father.”
So please, let’s go to the hospital. Quickly!
Whether he knew or not about her feelings, his eyes remained distant.
“Why don’t you understand my heart, Father?”

I like you so much. I’m worried about you, and my legs are trembling as I want to rush to the hospital.
“If you’re in pain, I feel it too!”
Love is something like that.
“If you weren’t going to listen, why did you do that?”
Hyo Jin, with teary eyes, looked down at herself in a vulnerable state and up at him.
“Why did you get hurt?”
Even though you don’t like me. If you’re going to fight or argue with Kang Han Na, you could have pretended not to know. Then I wouldn’t have had to feel like this.
“Well, Teacher Bong is the teacher my son loves the most.”
A faint voice flowed from his lips, as if it were a melody, and it seemed like Hyo Jin’s eyes, locked in his gaze, absorbed all the surrounding noise.
The memory of a sweet kiss, gently brushing against her lips, added more strength to the hand clutching his collar.

“And, what else?”
What’s wrong with you, Father? Why do you keep treating me so well?
Gyo Hwan tilted his thumb, gently wiping away the tears flowing down her cheek.
Feeling the faint warmth from his fingertips on her cheek, Hyo Jin slowly closed and opened her eyes. Gyo Hwan, who met her warm gaze, as if it contained the spring sunlight, let out a sigh as if it was enough.
“…That’s all.”
Anything more would just be my greed.
“Let’s go to the hospital. I’ll give you a ride to school on the way.”
Hyo Jin turned her steps towards the place where the car was parked, suppressing the pain that prickled her throat as if she had swallowed thorns.
That afternoon.
“Se In, I’m back.”

After visiting the hospital, Gyo Hwan went to the memorial park for his late wife, instead of going to work.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.
Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

“I know she doesn’t love him.”
With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.
Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.
In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.
Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…
Intro 2:
Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.
He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.
Watched her go public with her boyfriend.
Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.
Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.
The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.
Fan Xia, how can I have you!
