I Accidentally Imprinted On The Wolf Duke (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 81

The next day, well past noon, there was no sign of anyone emerging from the Duke’s room. Although the post-war affairs had been settled and everything here had been perfectly wrapped up, the knights—who were scheduled to return to Roizen—had no choice but to wait idly for the Duke’s orders, since he refused to leave his chamber.

Ever since Chloe had entered the Duke’s room, and shortly afterward MacL had flushed crimson upon hearing the sounds from within, Joyce had barred everyone from approaching the Duke’s quarters. However, unlike the Duke’s residence, this temporary lodging wasn’t soundproofed well enough, and the noise emanating from the Duke’s room apparently carried much farther than anticipated. In the end, the knights could only awkwardly stare at Sir Joyce whenever he occasionally appeared, unable to utter a single word.

“I knew His Grace was good at everything, but I never imagined he’d be capable of that even with an arm injury.”

“Quiet, all of you.”

Joyce cleared his throat awkwardly and ordered them to keep silent. It wasn’t something seriously scandalous, yet since Chloe Reeden wasn’t even married yet, he couldn’t possibly let such remarks go unchecked.

Around three in the afternoon, the Duke called for food to be brought to his room. Joyce personally carried the meal to the door and knocked. Recalling the last time he’d seen the Duke, Joyce unconsciously expected Chloe Reeden herself to open the door.

But it was the Duke who opened the door and took the tray. He looked so completely rejuvenated that Joyce wondered if this was truly the same man he’d last seen yesterday. Instinctively, Joyce’s eyes darted into the room, searching for Chloe Reeden, and his brow furrowed instantly.

There was clearly something in the bed—something tightly wrapped beneath the covers.

Could that be Chloe Reeden?

“Joyce.”

At the Duke’s icy voice, Joyce flinched and stepped back a pace.

“You’d better never look at the woman in my bed with those eyes again.”

“Ahh! My apologies!”

Though he already knew exactly what had transpired last night and this morning, Joyce had reflexively turned his head when he saw no trace of Chloe Reeden—and now, realizing just how grave his mistake had been, cold sweat trickled down his spine.

“Disappear.”
