Ines drew a long breath and exhaled sharply as she looked up at the Empress’s Palace. Before the fortress-like, unyielding structure that felt walled in from every side, she steeled her body to keep her heart from fluttering anxiously.

Sensing Ines’s unease, Carson tightened his grip on her hand.

Though he appeared calm, Carson was always slightly restless whenever he thought of Ines.
