For him, money was always clear and honest. There was nothing else that could secure his unstable position so firmly.
With wealth, he could protect. Whatever that might be.
After that, the time it took for him to prepare to go to Randhill was merely three days.
(This is a time divider.)
‘I did not… kill. I never killed my husband. Please, believe me. Please.’
Ines woke up from her bed on the morning of her 20th birthday, once again having the same nightmare.
The infamous prison called Romfield, known as a hell within hell, left her with a deep wound that she couldn’t erase, after spending 10 years there.
The weather was warm, but not enough to sweat. However, Ines was breaking out in a cold sweat as she hurriedly walked and opened the window, as if possessed.
Fortunately, the view before her eyes was not the hellish Romfield but her home garden. Her heart was choked with terror, and she inadvertently swallowed.
The scenery was just as she remembered it, so much so that she found it hard to believe that she had returned to the past, if not for the vivid dream in court.

Randhill, famous for its high mountains, had more rain than other nearby territories. Watching the rain, Ines thought deeply about the day she was dragged by the guards.
She had been trying to avoid thinking about that time on purpose. But now that she had returned to the past, she couldn’t just be afraid of something that hadn’t happened yet.
It was raining the day Joseph died. Ines followed her husband early in the morning to the library as he went to work.
Despite vehemently opposing her marriage, her father had supported her commoner soninlaw quite generously.
But she couldn’t afford to collect expensive books as before, and it was a little embarrassing to order her two maids, the only ones sent by her father, to borrow books.
The house was not large, but the two maids were always busy taking care of the household chores. So she spent time in the library operated by the territory whenever she had time.
Her husband was too busy, so she always had to go out alone. She was never quite used to going out alone without a servant or carriage, but she was not dissatisfied.
She considered herself happy, except for the difficulty of not seeing Joseph often.
It was early in the morning, but the library was not empty. She exchanged a glance with a familiar woman who just finished cleaning, and Ines sat in her usual spot.
It was a corner seat, but she liked it because the sun came in well. After reading until lunchtime, she felt a little heavy that day, dozed off for a while at her desk, and then picked out the books to borrow, thinking she should go home.
‘Dawning Song of Lenin’, ‘Your and My Shining Day’, etc., Ines vividly remembered all the titles of the books she intended to borrow.

But no matter how long she waited, the librarian who was to lend her the books did not return to her post.
Ines waited for the librarian, gave up borrowing the books, and went outside. Then, as she was leaving the library’s main entrance, she saw the librarian entering with a trotting step.
She considered following her back inside, but hurried home because of the raindrops falling heavily.
And Ines regretted and regretted the decision she made at that moment every day.
If she had followed the librarian back into the library that day, and thus left evidence of having borrowed the books, Ines would not have gone to Romfield.
When she returned home, the guards were already surrounding the area. And they, with inexplicable expressions, seemed to have waited for her as they arrested her.
“Miss, it’s time to go for a meal.”
Lost in deep thought, Ines was pulled out of her reverie by Susan knocking at the door.
“Yes.”
Originally, Ines usually had breakfast alone in her room. But today was her birthday, and on her birthday, the family usually gathered for breakfast together.

When she finished preparing and came down to the dining room, her father and mother were already seated at the table, chatting.
Not long ago, they had remodeled a once sunlit parlor into a space for family dining. The image of her father looking out the large window, with her mother by his side, was etched into her eyes.
Whenever Ines looked at the back of her father, Andrew Swellenden, it always choked her up.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!
This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
