With the Emperor’s permission, a young man with a firearm in his eyes entered the conference room. Although he seemed quite tense in front of the impressive nobles, he didn’t appear intimidated.
“I present to you His Imperial Majesty, the Sun of the Empire. He is Christian Ollando, the son of the Ollando Duke and a student of mathematics at the Penthium Academy.”
Ines, who didn’t like seeing him up close frequently and was reluctant to acknowledge it, admitted that he was quite a talented individual. The woman he loved had excellent judgment even when it came to assessing people.
“Alright, what brings you here?”
“Lord Monderai is currently in the Imperial Palace.”
Lord Monderai was designated as a Marquis when Monderai Bank was appointed as the central bank of the empire, and he was soon to be conferred the title of Count. The conferral ceremony was imminent.
Due to personal reasons, Lord Monderai had requested a delay in the conferral ceremony, a request that Carson readily accepted.
Who was Lord Monderai? He was the individual who single-handedly restored the imperial economy that all the high-ranking nobles and proxies had ruined. No one could take a stance against the hero who saved the empire from the swamp, serving as the head of the central bank.
In the meantime, Carson had contacted the temple, and once the imperial mourning period was over, Monderai’s name would be officially registered. In essence, he was already in a situation where he could be called a Count.
“Oh?”
His appearance caused a stir in the conference room. Carson tilted his head with a smirk.
“Yes, Lord Monderai believes it is proper to greet His Imperial Majesty and the proxies here before the Count’s title conferral ceremony. Therefore, he apologizes for the sudden visit and requests your indulgence.”
Carson still tilted his head and chuckled.
“Is that so?”
“Indeed, Your Majesty.”
What mischief was Ines, the troublemaker, planning this time? Carson couldn’t know, but his hesitation didn’t last long. When had she ever disappointed him?
No, now it didn’t matter even if Ines stirred up trouble to the point of making him uncomfortable. There was no problem in this world that he couldn’t handle anymore.
“A humble servant wishes to greet, and where is the Emperor who would decline that? Let him in, I say.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty.”
Christian left the conference room more swiftly than when he entered. Not long after, the gatekeeper informed them of Lord Monderai’s arrival.
As the Emperor nodded, the doors opened on both sides. The first to be seen was Christian, and what captivated everyone’s gaze was the delicate ivory-colored hem of the exquisite dress.
Suppressing the laughter that was about to burst out, Carson bit his lip.
People looked at the owner of the dress with puzzled expressions. She was none other than Lady Monderai, or Ines, his woman.
“Where is Lord Monderai?”
The one who asked in a surprised voice was Boniface. Seeing his widened eyes, it seemed that he, too, was unaware that Monderai was Ines.
Ines paid no attention to anyone else and walked solely towards Carson.
Standing among common men, Ines seemed to shine unusually white. Strangely, a woman in a dress adorned with the purple color that only royals could wear didn’t seem as exotic.
Amidst a field covered only in dirt, she looked like a lone violet blooming.
She was like the spring leaves that crawled out through the cream-colored walls, piercing through the ivory walls.
The form walking forward, swaying like it was trembling in the wind, appeared pitiful only in Carson’s perception.
That was understandable since others’ eyes were filled with nothing but bewilderment.
Ines walked to the center of the conference room and stopped at an appropriate spot. Then, she slightly lifted her skirt and bowed her head.
“I greet the Sun of the Keynes Empire.”
“Aren’t you my maid?”
“Yes, I am. I am Ines Swenden, the illegitimate daughter of Lord Swenden, the Lord of Randhill, and currently in charge of the central bank. I am also the handmaiden to His Imperial Majesty.”
Carson closed his eyes briefly, expecting what was about to happen. As expected, Manusott pushed back his chair and stood up.
“What on earth does that mean?”
“Just as you heard.”
Ines replied without turning her head towards him.
“This… this sounds unbelievable.”
Only now did people realize that they didn’t even know the title of Monderai, who was originally a commoner.
Ines spoke up to prevent Manusott from saying more.
“As a woman, if I had taken a position, there would have been significant difficulties in uncovering and helping the former Empress and those who assisted her. I apologize for having to operate in secrecy, Your Majesty.”
Trying to suppress the laughter that was about to burst out, Carson bit his lip. Even while looking at his expression, Ines didn’t show the slightest hesitation. She glanced at Manusott with a slight downward tilt of her eyes.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
