“Like the sun rising in the sky, to me, you were light and salvation.”

Ines looked up at him. In the gaze that met in the air, there was no room for anything else.

“I will never leave Your Majesty alone. Now, I don’t know what consequences my current choice will leave in the future, but… one thing is certain.”

The two locked eyes and shared a smile that mirrored each other.
“Whatever happens, I will never regret it.”

“…”

“I’m grateful for you waiting for me for such a long time. Thank you for enduring everything I’ve done. Now, I won’t live the rest of my life for Your Majesty.”

Through the slightly opened window, a breeze filled with the scent of winter suddenly blew in.

The woman, looking up with one knee bent, received the winter sunlight, and her jade eyes radiated a rich light. The dense golden hair, stirred by the cold wind, gently scattered over her raised white forehead.

Carson reached out, sweeping aside the hair covering her forehead, and Ines smiled brightly.

Carson was convinced that he would never forget this moment.

“I will spend the rest of my life with you.”

Carson silently gazed at Ines. The surrounding sounds diminished, and any sensations surrounding him were no longer felt. He knew it too. He had to give her assurance other than just watching.

Ines was a very strong woman. And in fact, she was a very fragile person.

Knowing that, he couldn’t find words that seemed appropriate to say.

“Yeah.”

A somewhat calm and gentle voice that felt quite composed echoed in Ines’s ears. The deep voice resonated throughout her body. He was remarkably calm compared to before. Instead, his demeanor firmly tied Ines’s heart. He felt certain that nothing would go wrong as long as he continued to watch her walk away.

At that moment, he reached out and pulled both of her arms as she knelt with one knee. As their bodies straightened, their lips met.

Even though it wasn’t their first touch, the sensation, as if on fire, took away all her thoughts.

Unexpectedly, his fingers that entered intertwined with her hair. The moment she thought that her entire back of the head was wrapped in his hand, her head twisted under his control.

Without hesitation, the man’s parted lips completely enveloped Ines’s lips.

Even the breath, not only breathing but seemingly sucking in the soul, didn’t leave a gap.

It felt like being plunged into a burning sensation that not only took away her breath but also her soul.

As if kissing for the first time since birth, she couldn’t even remember how to breathe.

As the breath filled up to the tip of her chin, and when it became unbearable, Carson pulled away from Ines.

It was impossible to gauge how much time had passed. Her rough breath mixed with his, and he pulled away again after gently pulling and releasing her lower lip.

Her body felt as if all moisture had been drained away, and it seemed as if her entire body was submerged in water. Ines couldn’t catch her breath, and she couldn’t open her eyes.

Long fingers gently stroked the edge of Ines’s chin. Even the touch on her body was filled with emotion. Slowly caressing along the wrinkles of Ines’s lips, he said softly as if melting.

“Don’t think too hastily.”
In a gentle yet assured voice, Ines slowly opened her eyes. She continued to gaze at the face of the person who always considered her feelings first. Once again, his beauty struck her deeply.

“If you’ve made that decision, I won’t pressure you any further.”

“…”

“Just this one thing is enough for now.”

Despite the freezing expression, his gaze was as warm as it could melt her. The time between them seemed to evaporate and disappear.

“Has the anger subsided?”

In response to her words, Carson smiled again.

“I’m enduring it; I’m not angry.”

Ines couldn’t bring herself to ask what he was enduring.

If it was time for a meal, the maids who came to serve, and even the chief eunuch who hesitated outside, didn’t enter.

The two of them just sat side by side on the reception room sofa.

Now that they had reached a kind of conclusion, they didn’t know if they were thinking the same thing as they looked at the sun, high in the sky.

“I shouldn’t have done that.”

Suddenly, Carson made an unrelated confession.

“It wasn’t something to get angry about, but feeling inadequate made me unnecessarily pressure you.”

Carson subtly wrapped his fingers around the inside of Ines’s wrist, as if seeking forgiveness.

“The more I see, the more I realize I’ve made choices that don’t suit a god.”

Instead of responding, Ines slid her arm through his and nestled into his side. Carson tilted his chin slightly, taking a deep breath.

“Got slapped?”

“…”

“Watching that made me feel so powerless. Too… fatherly.”

Ines’s flushed face overlapped with the image of her mother from the past. What was the difference between calling her boldly and not being able to protect her properly, just like her father?

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day

It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.

The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.

Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.

If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.

It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.

The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.

In the end, everything will come together and be explained.

One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!

In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.

Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.

However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.

Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.

Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?

——

Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.

His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.

Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”

——

The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.

Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!

Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!

The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…

——

But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.

The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.

She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…

Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”

Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”

Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

[Small Theater]

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.

Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”

Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.

Zhu Wansheng: ?

Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…

On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.

Warm breath lingers on her neck.

“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
