The person currently sitting at the highest seat in this conference room was Carson, but right above his head was none other than Marquis Marnisut.

“I request to discuss matters with His Imperial Majesty.”

At those words, Carson rose from his seat as if he had been waiting.

“Indeed. It happened to be quite a dry throat, so let’s have a drink.”

The two soon headed to the balcony on the second floor.

This was the place where, after Emperor Sunghwang appointed Carson as the Crown Prince during the Bookongshik, he came alone to drink. As Sunghwang said, sitting in that spot and watching the sunset was quite majestic.

“Have a seat. Care for a drink?”

Marquis Marnisut had a friendly-looking face. He had been childhood friends with Carson’s father.

He was also the mastermind behind placing the current Empress on the throne, who was now being pursued. So, in his eyes, Carson would probably appear as a vigorous young lad.

He consistently greeted the young emperor with a relaxed expression.

“What kind of drink were you having?”

There were undoubtedly things to learn from Marquis Marnisut’s behavior, which flowed naturally like water. Instead of answering, Carson lifted a bottle of liquor.

“It’s Monstera’s liquor. I enjoy it because it’s not too strong.”

Carson filled his glass. Then he sipped a bit of the liquor placed in front of him. Watching him, Marnisut raised the corner of his mouth.

“I might be out of line saying this, but you resemble him a lot.”

Carson chuckled in response. He instantly understood what Marnisut wanted to say.

“Of course, you’ve become more handsome than His Majesty, who resembles our mother.”

The one who held Sunghwang in the palm of his hand was none other than Marquis Marnisut. So, the words seemed to imply, ‘Just as I have Sunghwang in my hands, so do you.’ If someone were to ask if he was an evildoer, Carson would probably find it challenging to answer.

The former empress was indeed an evildoer. She didn’t hesitate to shed blood for her own desires.

But Marnisut was a bit different.

He was undoubtedly a high-ranking aristocrat with clear pursuits. What he desired was to firmly establish noble politics on equal terms with the imperial power. He, too, did not hesitate to do whatever it took for his goals, just like the empress. So, is he also a sinner?

Whether he leaned towards one side or the other, Marnisut was unquestionably at the pinnacle of the nobility. With Carson enjoying the absolute support of the Imperial citizens, it was only natural that he had thorns in the Marquis’s throat.

“Just say what you want to say. No need to drag it out, right?”

Carson decided not to bow down before him. The more he did so, the more Marnisut would surely see Carson as a mere child.

“You’ve appointed Swenden’s daughter as a secretary maid.”
“Even though I said there’s no need to drag on the time, are you bringing up that matter right away?”

Carson grinned, and Manisut shrugged his shoulders.

“To think of raising that matter right from the start, even after saying there’s no need to waste time.”

Manisut chuckled when Carson grinned, shoulders shrugging.

“You truly are quick-witted to think of bringing it up as the starting move.”

“Witty, huh…”

Carson momentarily nodded, then smiled with sharp eyes.

“You’re audacious.”

As if realizing a mistake, Manisut’s relaxed face briefly stiffened. It was also challenging to determine whether it was acting or genuine.

“If you do well, I might pat your head.”

He stood up from his seat, immediately bowing his head.

“I apologize, Your Majesty.”

“Even to a skilled person like you, I seem quite annoying. Seeing you all gather like this, rushing in with such eagerness.”

“Do not doubt the loyalty of your subjects.”

Carson raised his glass, lightly tapping Manisut’s. Manisut reciprocated by raising his glass.

“Have you ever had wine with the Emperor here?”

“Yes, I have.”

“Even if the Emperor changes, you are the one sitting in front of him, and it’s not unreasonable that you’re audacious. However… If you intend to remain in that position in my next era, it would be wise to be cautious with your words.”

“I will keep that in mind.”

The response was crisp.

“Now, go ahead and tell me what you want. Night will fall soon.”

“I have a daughter. She is now eighteen.”

Carson shook his head slightly at the overly obvious plot.

“Why have you been so quiet until now? There must have been someone willing to make you the father of the Empress in this Imperial family.”

“Hmm.”

In the end, Carson let out a bitter laugh.

The position of the former Crown Prince was firm, but at the time of selecting the Crown Princess, Manisut’s daughter was still young. And the Empire lost the Crown Prince to an unexpected illness.

Since then, Manisut had been silently observing the aristocrats fighting among themselves. Watching them fight and die, and probably waiting for the last one to remain.

“You irritate even a skilled person like me. Seeing you rushing here like this makes me quite annoyed.”

“Do not doubt the loyalty of your subjects.”

Male lead is a Destined Young Husband (Female-dominant)

One-sentence summary: Wife-master, listen to my explanation!

Li Ruantang, a young lady from a prestigious family, stumbled and fell. When she woke up, she saw a noble and beautiful young man sitting by her bedside, wiping away tears.

The young master had slightly reddened eyes, and his every move exuded charm.

The sight made Li Ruantang’s eyes hot and her heart flutter. After all, she had made a bet with the young master Meng from the neighboring family. If she couldn’t marry a husband before the end of the year, she would have to admit defeat and give up the jade she had worked so hard to obtain.

Outside the window, the flowers were in full bloom.

Rather than losing the bet, the jade, and her face, Li Ruantang calculated that it would be better to seek marriage with the young master in front of her, killing three birds with one stone.

…

Meng Jun never thought that an accident during a spring outing would lead to them rolling down a cliff and into a river, yet still survive.

Now they were trapped in an unknown village, and Meng Jun had overheard that the family who had rescued them had their own intentions.

After all, it was Li Ruantang who had lost her mind and sought marriage first. He was only trying to protect himself!

Glancing at Li Ruantang, who was listing her own merits, the young husband’s voice softened, and he blushed as he lied, “W-wife-master, Wife-master, don’t you remember me?”

The young husband’s voice was clear and handsome, coaxing Li Ruantang’s heart to be soft and sweet, and she spared no effort to protect him.

It wasn’t until they returned to the capital that Li Ruantang suddenly remembered.

When they had fallen off the cliff, in order not to implicate Wei Yunruo, whom he secretly admired, the young husband had instead pulled her, who was slightly farther away, down the cliff with him…

Short summary by Yuushi L: Initially, the male lead (ML) liked another girl, while the female lead (FL) liked the ML. Both fell off a cliff. The FL temporarily lost her memory, and the ML, fearing others might take advantage of him, claimed FL was his wife while they were staying in a village. Later, when they returned home, the FL regained her memories and remembered that the ML liked someone else, so she kept her distance from him. However, during their time living together in the countryside, the ML’s view of the FL had completely changed. From this point, his pursuit of the FL begins.
