He was a handsome man with shimmering silver hair and ash-colored eyes. The maids had often gossiped, saying it was a waste for such a man to become a priest.

Charlotte left, and Ines shook the shoulder of a maid who was still asleep. She should have woken up by now, but there was no movement today.

She had said recently that she had no appetite and felt tired.

“You have to get up now. Are you very tired?”

She wanted to let her sleep more, but she couldn’t. It was when Ines tugged her shoulder a bit harder. The maid’s body slumped over.

Ines’s eyes narrowed sharply. The way her body fell was not the movement of someone alive.

Ines stepped back. It wasn’t the sight of a corpse that startled her.

During her days in Romfield, there were many prisoners who couldn’t survive the cold nights and were found dead by morning. She examined the dead person’s face carefully. There was absolutely no reason to die just because one had no appetite or felt tired. People don’t die that easily.

After examining the deceased, Ines took a deep breath and straightened her chest. Some memories naturally closed her eyes. The face of the deceased looked exactly like those corpses she had once seen in Romfield.

At the temple, they had especially provided Ines and her companions with a luxurious carriage. Though not treated as criminals, they were nonetheless serving sentences. As a result, Ines couldn’t set foot in her home while passing through Swalden Gar.

As they passed what used to be the border of her old domain, she took a deep breath. Romfield now existed in what had become Landhill in Lusonia. Though now irrelevant, the name still didn’t feel distant.

“The atmosphere here is really different.”

Charlotte and Ines passed through a bustling market.

“Indeed.”

The market was on a different scale compared to the one in the Landhill where she used to live. It was hard to believe that this grand domain had now become Landhill.

Soon, after driving a little further on a quieter road, the mansion where Carson lived would come into view.

She recalled her memories. She had almost drowned in the lake. Of course, that was a matter of ten years in the future, and for her, it was the past. Ines had spent a night at that mansion.

The Carson of that time was quite different from now. His eyes had deepened, and his aura was sharper. Yet, whether it was then or ten years later, he was breathtakingly beautiful. As she thought of him, Ines felt her heart pounding.

Every time she thought of him, her heart always raced. But today, it seemed a bit excessive. Ines clenched her fist and pressed hard against her chest area.

“Do you feel uncomfortable?”
At that time, Priest Hansen asked Ines. He had not spoken much during their journey here. However, he often checked on her well-being and was considerate of their surroundings. There were many moments when she felt fortunate to have him along.

“You seem a bit tense.”

He nodded gently and spoke.

“Take a deep breath.”

“Thank you for your concern.”

Something she learned upon arriving was that Priest Hansen was younger than she had thought. After coming to Edmont at the age of nineteen, he had undergone two years as a novice priest and three years as a coadjutor priest.

He had then served God for another three years as an intermediate priest.

Not everyone who chose the path of priesthood reached the level of a high priest. However, he was soon to advance to the highest tier. His age was the same as Ines’s.

Watching him take steady steps toward his dream, she newly felt Hansen’s excellence.

Would there come a day when she, too, lived earnestly to become something?

For the first time in a long while, since stepping out of the temple, she found herself thinking not of the past, but of the future.

As the day began to wane, the carriage carrying the three of them arrived at Carson’s castle.

The place was as it always had been. The building itself was large and opulent, yet the garden was not ostentatious. The mansion was so much Carson himself that one could depict him just by looking at its facade.

It felt so practical that it was impossible to imagine Countess Graham holding lavish parties every day.

As the iron gate opened and they reached the main garden, Carson and Louisianne personally came out to greet them.

Louis had grown unrecognizably. She had grown at least an inch taller, and her cheeks had pleasingly filled out. Ines no longer had to kneel before her; a mere bow aligned their eye levels perfectly.

After quietly exchanging pleasantries, Louis and Ines tightly embraced each other.

The child who wouldn’t let go of her for a long time eventually parted from her without any lingering attachment. The act was so cat-like that Ines couldn’t help but chuckle deeply.

After everyone exchanged greetings, Ines was led to the room where she would stay. Although the maid did not stay in the mansion, Ines and Charlotte would be staying on the same floor as Louis’s bedroom. Naturally, the room was incomparable to the ones at the monastery.

An Indifferent Woman is the One Men Desire the Most

One-line summary: The female lead is actually cold-hearted and extremely rational. She has stage-by-stage relationships and won’t two-time, but there will always be someone who secretly likes her.

This novel has the following triggers, so if you’re sensitive to these, please don’t read:

1. The female lead has had many relationships, but she treated each one seriously and broke up properly.

It’s just that the men unilaterally pestered her incessantly. For the female lead, when she doesn’t like someone anymore, she simply doesn’t like them.

(This applies to her relationships with Male Lead 1, 2, 3, and 4 as well, but she’s loyal in each 1-on-1 relationship!)

2. In this novel, Male Lead 2 and the female lead kiss in a car, and Male Lead 1 sees it and beats up Male Lead 2.

The female lead calls the police and sends both Male Lead 1 and 2 to the police station! Male Lead 1 begs the female lead not to break up with him.

3. Male Lead 1 has a gentle appearance but an obsessive personality.

Male Lead 2 has a delicate and soft appearance, slightly green tea-like (two-faced).

Male Lead 3 is a youthful college student and a smart person who has secretly liked the female lead for a long time.

Male Lead 4 is the female lead’s father’s special assistant, a business elite with deep, hidden thoughts.

4. At the beginning of this novel, the female lead has already broken up with Male Lead 1 (Chapter 4) and gotten back together with Male Lead 2 (ex-boyfriend).

5. Enter with caution if you have triggers!!!
