Allen felt a chill brush past his skin and quickly turned his head backward.

The operator, hanging a dark bruise from his jaw, grinned with his mouth stretched wide sideways while bound hand and foot.

“What a pity. Just as Kura was about to be commercialized… I suppose everyone has finally realized its true nature.”

“…….”

Nigel, Allen, and Noah couldn’t utter a single word in reply to the operator.

Because they had all hoped their suspicions weren’t true.

“Why is nobody saying anything? Very well. Then I’ll tell you myself. As you’ve guessed, Kura was made using the magic power of ordinary people.”

The operator stuck out his tongue and licked his lips.

“More precisely, using the tiny trace of life force mingled within their magic power.”

As soon as Nigel heard those words, his clenched fists slackened helplessly.

It felt as if his entire body had shattered into sharp glass shards, scattering and piercing him from every direction.

Though he’d already suspected it, hearing the operator confirm it aloud stirred up a storm of emotions within him.

“I tried everything I could to replicate Lepharo somehow… but I see now why everyone keeps praising Lepharo. It’s as if they’d mixed gold into it—creating even a remotely similar effect, let alone an imitation, proved nearly impossible.”

Kura had come into existence because Lepharo appeared in the world… or rather, because Nigel had kept the secret hidden.

If only they’d gone quietly to the temple as originally written, or if they’d taken the rocket straight to the ducal estate—would things have turned out differently?
