“What are you talking about? What do you mean?”
With bloodshot eyes, Ivette spoke quickly.
“There was nothing. I need to undress Her Majesty the Empress.”
“No, the measurements will wait. Everyone, leave.”
“That can’t be, Your Majesty! You need to be measured!”
Ivette lunged forward, grabbing the outer garment.
Rip!
The shoulder area of the dress tore lengthwise.
“Princess Shrayden!”
“Stay still, Your Majesty!”
Rip!
The fabric tore even more.
“Stop it immediately! What are you doing?”
“I have to undress you!”
It was hard to restrain Ivette by force alone. Even when her hands were held and pulled away, she strenuously clung to the torn fabric.
Rasilia shouted toward the door of the reception room.
“Sir Sigres! Come in and send these people out!”
What happened next was even more strange.
At the sound of Rasilia’s voice, Serben entered the reception room.
The royal tailor blocked his path and spoke.
“Her Majesty needs to be measured. Only then can the dress be made properly.”
“Ah… is that… so?”
Hearing this, Serben slowly lowered his hand.
“Sir Sigres?”
“You must remain still, Your Majesty.”
“What?”
It was strange. Really strange.
Ivette approached and forcibly pulled off the dress.
“See? Even Sir Sigres says so. Your Majesty, just remain still. I’ll handle everything.”
Everyone seemed as if they were entranced.
Rasilia snatched the torn fabric back and looked directly into Ivette’s eyes.
“Princess Shrayden. No, Ivette.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
Though her eyes were bloodshot, her gaze did not waver.
Seeing that, Rasilia knew.
Ivette had no intention of harming her. Something strange was simply occurring.
Rasilia calmed her mind. Now, she had to bring Ivette to her senses.
“I find what you’re doing repulsive. To forcibly undress me in front of others against my will. It’s unacceptable.”
“But the dress must be made properly. To measure, you must undress.”
“Do you intend to keep making me uncomfortable? Is that your purpose?”
“Uh… I… I want you to wear beautiful dresses, Your Majesty…”
“If you ignore my words for that reason, I don’t need your service. You needn’t be my maid any longer.”
“Uh, but…”
Ivette’s eyes wavered.
Rasilia saw the bloodshot eyes fade to pale, then redden again. It was an odd phenomenon. It looked like bloodshot eyes, but it wasn’t.
“But… no, I need to make Your Majesty’s dress… so I…”
“Remove your hands from me.”
“I, I… oh, I can’t!”
Suddenly, Ivette screamed and clung to Rasilia.
“Don’t! Don’t do this to me! If you do, I… what?”
Confused, Ivette shook her head.
“Why… why…? Why am I doing this? Your Majesty’s dress… Ah, I did it! I ruined your dress!”
Only now did Ivette realize what she had done, and was horrified.
Seeing that confirmed it. This wasn’t normal.
Neither the royal tailor nor Serben were in their right minds.
“Stand up. Stay behind me.”
Not taking her eyes off the two, Rasilia shielded Ivette, who was still in disbelief at her actions.
“Why did I…?”
“That tailor seems to be acting strangely.”
Thud.
No sooner had she finished speaking than Serben moved closer.
Like Ivette, Serben’s eyes were also bloodshot.
“Your Majesty, I don’t understand why you’re refusing. Don’t measurements need to be taken to make the dress?”
Click.
As he spoke, Serben touched his knife’s hilt, making a sound.
Facing him, Rasilia wrapped her arm behind her to shield Ivette.
“So, are you saying you’ll use a knife to undress me for measurements?”
“It can’t be helped for measurements.”
“Nonsense. Why measure at all?”
“To make Your Majesty’s dress, of course…”
“Fine. What’s the reason for making my clothes in a way that displeases me?”
“Huh…?”
Serven tilted his head. He seemed confused.
“If you’re uncomfortable, we don’t have to… No, measurements must be taken. Without measurements, we can’t make clothes.”
“So you think it makes sense to threaten me with a knife to make my clothes?”
“Um… It doesn’t make sense, but… Huh?”
That’s when the tailor shouted.
“Measurements must be taken! Absolutely!”
Ivette, just like she had before, shook Serven’s eyes red again.
“Yes, Your Majesty the Empress.”
Shhhing!
Serven drew his knife.
“If you continue to resist, I’ll undress you myself. Oh, don’t worry. If you stay still, I won’t scratch a single hair off you.”
Shi!
The tip of Serven’s knife moved over the dress.
“Ah! Don’t!”
Ivette rushed forward, attempting to block Serven’s knife with her palm.
“Don’t! Ivette!”
Rasilia pulled Ivette back.
Zzzt!
Blood splattered somewhere.
“Ahh…”
Ivette, whose arm had been cut from palm to elbow, groaned as she sank to her knees.
Serven, unaware of what he’d just done, held the bloodied knife in front of Rasilia.
“I’ll undress you, Your Majesty, Emp…”
“Listen to me! I told you not to do it!”
Desperate, Rasilia looked Serven in the eyes and shouted.
No, she tried to shout, but her voice wasn’t very loud.
Instead, it was deep. The words she forcefully spat out left a strange reverberation even in her own ears.
“Ah…”
…Clang.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
