Thud!
The carriage came to a halt.
“We have arrived at the Duke of Piellion’s residence, Your Majesty the Empress.”
It was finally time to disembark from the carriage.
“Your Majesty the Empress.”
Seeing that Rasilia, gripping the hem of her dress, said nothing, Dekan directed his gaze at her.
“…….”
His gaze, like water, illuminated her face.
It seemed to say, don’t run away, confront yourself.
Who you are, what you desire. No more hiding, face it.
“May we open the door, Your Majesty the Empress?”
The guards outside the carriage asked. Before answering, Rasilia quickly spoke to Dekan.
“Let me ask one thing.”
“Yes, Your Majesty the Empress.”
“Is it your speculation that I might miss Delarta, or is it your intent?”
“My words neither precede nor contradict Your Majesty’s will.”
“So it’s your intent?”
“Yes.”
With that, she knew.
The Emperor thought she might not be the real Cartahena Empress. Yet he believed she was his true companion.
‘Cartahena Empress had a mark. But the mark gradually disappeared after marriage… I revived in the Empress’s body right after using a spell to bring back the mark.’
Did it truly mean she was the original companion?
Did the spell give the mark back to the true companion, not to Cartahena Empress?
Rasilia remembered the whispers of birds she heard right after waking up.
[Dash]It’s real. The real one is here. [Dash]So now she is coming. If the ‘real’ is her, and ‘she’ refers to Pipi, the king of birds.
Bizarre circumstances strangely intertwined to form evidence.
‘I must check the mark.’
If I’m correct, the disappearing mark would have returned.
Though the Emperor seemed to not care about the existence of the mark, from Rasilia’s perspective, it would give the answer to who she is.
“….then I understand your intent as well.”
Rasilia gave a slight nod. Then she spoke towards the outside of the carriage.
“Open the door.”
“Yes, Your Majesty the Empress.”
Thud.
The carriage door opened, revealing the Duke of Piellion’s residence.
(This is a time separator.)
Touted as the most beautiful building outside of the royal palace in the capital, the residence didn’t feel that way at all.
Glamorous and utterly empty, it felt like a huge tomb.
A large number of servants came out to greet Rasilia, but the reception felt far from welcoming.
The residence was just heavy and gloomy.
“Do not go too close, Your Majesty the Empress.”
Being guided to the Duke’s bedroom, Rasilia dismissed everyone except Dekan.
If the Duke of Piellion had a portion of his consciousness stolen like the royal foundation mage, then recklessly involving others could be dangerous.
With no one in sight except the Duke, lying on the bed like a corpse with open eyes, Dekan quickly cast a protective spell on Rasilia. It was a spell of guardianship.
“His eyes are bloodshot. …It looks worse than the royal foundation mage.”
After examining the Duke, Rasilia spoke.
“The royal foundation mage’s symptoms also worsened over time. Eventually, his eyes melted.”
“Oh.”
Rasilia’s eyes narrowed.
“The Duke started acting strangely after returning from the temple, according to the words of the ViceDuke of Piellion. That means the culprit is indeed in the temple.”
“There is no other answer. Something within the temple aims to harm the royal family.”
The Duke was staring at the ceiling with unfocused eyes, drooling from one side of his mouth.
It was a terrible sight.
As long as the power making healthy people like this exists somewhere out there, this will keep happening.
“Can’t we call a cleric with healing abilities?”
“The cleric’s healing did not work on the royal foundation mage either. It’s probably not a naturally occurring disease.”
Her expression unconsciously hardened.
“So you mean the illness is due to that power, neither magic nor a spell.”
“Indeed. Just as magic, sorcery, and divine power cannot interfere with one another, this power will be no different.”
Somehow, the words of the Duke sounded like he was taking responsibility for what had happened.
Rasilia looked at the Duke with pitiful eyes.
“If Duke Pielion hadn’t gone to the temple… none of this would have happened.”
“Do you blame yourself?”
“Perhaps.”
Dekan carefully examined Rasilia’s expression before speaking.
“Do you remember what I told you before?”
“Which part?”
“I asked how Her Majesty the Empress was able to reverse the wills stolen by this power from Lord Sigres and Lady Shruden.”
“I replied that I did not know.”
“Yes, you did. But do you still think the same?”
“Do you think I have the ability to restore Duke Pielion?”
“Yes. Otherwise, there’s no other way to explain why Lord Sigres and Lady Shruden are unharmed.”
“…”
Rasilia pondered for a moment.
She remembered the moment when the two had reacted to her voice. But she had never considered it to be some special ability she possessed.
Yet, now many things she had firmly believed were shaking.
Moreover, she had recently dreamt.
A strange dream where a portion of demonic power was transferred to her.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
