“Could it be that you had a secret meeting while I was away?”
Despite clearly observing his gaze, words, and every action, Kasallin could not understand him at all.
When his fingertips, holding her chin, began rubbing her lower lip like a slender thread snake, her impulse to flee the room immediately turned into certainty.
Kasallin forcefully pushed against his chest and bolted out of the room.
In the darkness, she ran frantically.
The cold night air seeped deep into her lungs, but it couldn’t cool the heat rising to her cheeks from discomfort.
‘I don’t want to go back to that room.’
Kasallin steadied her rising breath, looked up at the night sky dusted with sugar-like stars, and walked forward.
Occasionally, guards watched her cautiously with wary eyes, but upon recognizing her as a lady-in-waiting to the Queen of the Kan Kingdom, they said nothing.
Kasallin stopped at a small pond.

She scooped up some water, cold enough to sting her skin, and splashed it on her face.
She scrubbed her lips especially hard where his fingers had touched.
Feeling the chill belatedly, she wiped the water dripping along her chin with the back of her hand.
“Ugh…”
A man’s voice, carried by a faint breeze, came from the overgrown inner garden.
Drawn as if spellbound by the groan that seemed to convey pain, Kasallin moved forward.
Crunch, crunch.
Listening to the sound of dry grass being crushed under her soles, she cautiously approached and found the same man from before.
Unlike last time, when he was peacefully asleep, his handsome face was now contorted as if tormented by a nightmare.
‘Could he be a close aide cherished by the Emperor?’

The advice of Ludwig, warning her not to recklessly enter the Emperor’s domain, briefly crossed her mind.
But Kasallin, thinking she should wake him, carefully approached and knelt beside him.
If the nightmare was this agonizing, it might be better not to sleep at all.
“Hey.”
She called out softly, fearing she might startle him, but his long, elegant eyelashes showed no sign of moving.
Almost unconsciously, Kasallin placed her hand on his smooth forehead.
A burning heat radiated intensely.
“It’s okay. It’s just a dream.”
Murmuring in a barely audible voice while stroking his forehead, his ragged breathing miraculously calmed.
Why was she doing this for an arrogant man who wouldn’t even tell her his name?

‘This is pointless meddling.’
If a guard caught her like this, there was no guarantee she wouldn’t lose her head to the mad Emperor, so she started to rise.
At that moment, the man suddenly flung open his eyelids and, without giving her a chance to react, roughly grabbed her waist.
He threw her onto the grass and pinned her within his arms, leaving her unable to move.
His eyes, looking down at her as if he hadn’t just been asleep, were fiercely bloodshot.
“Did you see?”
His voice, half-hoarse, growled like a beast.
His intensity was overwhelming.
It was natural to be startled by a strange woman at his bedside upon waking, but was it necessary to react this excessively?
“What…”
“Did you see me writhing in pain?”
Ignoring her wildly pounding heart, as if facing a predator, Kasallin calmly nodded.
“Yes, I saw.”
Before she finished speaking, the man roughly unbuttoned his shirt, pulling a sword from inside.
The blade, reflecting the moonlight, gleamed as pale as winter frost.
He grabbed Kasallin’s throat with one hand.
As her airway constricted, a threat to her life surged through her body.
The man, consumed by madness, raised the sword into the air with the clear intent to kill, not just to intimidate.
‘Could it be that the reason he was sleeping alone in a place like this…’
Even in this chaos, Kasallin, maintaining her composure, let her body go limp.

As if saying, “Do what you want,” she relaxed completely and slowly blinked.
His frenzied eyes wavered slightly, and the ferocious aura visibly subsided.
Like a wolf recognizing its master and lowering its tail.
Seizing the moment when his grip on her throat weakened, Kasallin spoke.
“Sorry, but may I explain? I was just passing by and heard a familiar voice in pain, so I came quickly. I really had no other intentions.”
“Do you think I’d believe that?”
“If you don’t, I have nothing more to say, but I don’t understand why you’re so sensitive, treating me like an assassin just for approaching.”
His brows slowly drew closer together.
“You don’t know who I am?”
“You didn’t tell me your name or title, so how would I know? Unfortunately, I’m not a mind reader. Also, this is supposed to be the Emperor’s garden, so shouldn’t we both leave soon at this late hour?”

“Hah…”
He let out a scoff, as if dumbfounded, and tossed the sword aside with a clang.
“What a ridiculous woman.”
“That’s the first time I’ve been called ridiculous. Old-fashioned, sure, but never ridiculous.”
A cold silence followed.
Her attempt to lighten the mood with a joke clearly didn’t land.
The man rubbed his face, his expression prickly with irritation, and jerked his chin toward the garden entrance.
“Get out.”
“I’ll leave if you say so, but can I ask one thing first?”
“Go. Now.”

“What’s your name? Just tell me that.”
Ignoring his warning, she asked with wide eyes, and he stared at her as if wondering what kind of woman she was.
It was strange.
Despite his terrifying aura, she oddly wasn’t afraid of him.
For some reason, in his presence, she felt a strange sense of relief, as if she could show her true self without wearing the mask of a Robepon marquess’s daughter.
“Can’t you understand?”
“I can’t keep calling you ‘hey’ or ‘you’ every time we meet.”
Kasallin grumbled.
Then something curious happened.
The sharp hostility that had darkened his face melted away like snow, replaced by a crooked smile.

Though it was closer to a cynical smirk.
“Planning to meet me again?”
“We’ve already run into each other twice by chance, so who’s to say we won’t meet again?”
“That sounds like you want to see me again. If it’s a habit, you should fix it to avoid misunderstandings.”
“I don’t mind if you misunderstand.”
“What?”
Kasallin shrugged.
“For some reason, I did think I’d like to meet you again. Though I didn’t expect to find you suffering from a nightmare.”
“…”
“By the way, please keep this a secret from His Majesty. I didn’t come here because I wanted to; it’s because you were recklessly sleeping in a place like this. You’ll keep it secret, right?”
For some reason, the man seemed to forget how to breathe.
With his lips tightly shut, he stared at Kasallin with unreadable honey-colored eyes.
At that moment, a breeze from the hill below rustled the flowering branches.
Petals, falling from buds in the peak of spring, showered down like rain in the dawn breeze.
It was an almost surreal, beautiful scene, but Kasallin couldn’t take her eyes off the man in front of her.
Compared to his silvery hair flowing like waves, the petal rain felt utterly insignificant.
“Why are you staring at me like that?”
“If he can’t forgive you.”
“What?”
“What will you do if the Emperor absolutely can’t forgive you?”

“No way. His Majesty would really punish me?”
Her already large eyes widened like a rabbit’s, and for some reason, the man bit his lip as if suppressing a laugh.
That tyrant Emperor must have no intention of showing mercy.
At this rate, the entire Grand Festival, which could have been peaceful, was sure to go awry.
“What kind of terrible punishment would he give? I’m a lady-in-waiting from another country; surely he wouldn’t harm me physically, right?”
“Who knows? How could I know the Emperor’s mind?”
“Say something to His Majesty for me. Tell him I didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Why should I?”
“I even treated your injury, and you’re really going to act like this? You owe me.”
“All you did was clumsily wrap it with a torn, dirty skirt and act high and mighty about it.”

This wasn’t going to work.
Kasallin closed her eyes, tempted to give him a flick on the forehead and run, and strode toward him. But the moment she saw his face, glowing brightly in the moonlight, her body strangely froze.
Come to think of it, didn’t this man’s voice sound a bit like the Emperor’s?
‘He couldn’t be related to the Emperor, could he?’
Looking closely again, their vibes were somewhat similar.
The leisurely demeanor, as if he’d never bowed to anyone in his life.
The fact that he could casually sleep in the Emperor’s garden.
All the signs pointed to him being no ordinary person.
“Fine, I’m leaving.”
Better to leave now without stirring up more trouble. As Kasallin hurriedly steadied her trembling legs and turned to go, his voice cut through the night air.

“Don’t tell anyone about me, no matter where you go.”
“I wouldn’t, even if you didn’t say so. I won’t say a word about your nightmares either, so don’t worry. Everyone has something they want to hide. …I do too.”
He glanced at Kasallin with an indifferent look, then leaned back against the base of the flowering tree and closed his eyes.
Feeling oddly disappointed, Kasallin didn’t look back and hurriedly left the garden.
They probably wouldn’t meet again.
With that thought in mind.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
