‘Surely, a smooth and happy life awaits.’

She never doubted it.

Not knowing she would conceive his child even before their wedding.

“Shalen… I think I might be carrying your child.”

As a future queen, she thought she had made a grave mistake.

At first, Shalen appeared flustered. But soon, he responded with composure, even laughing.

“Well. It seems the heir to the Khan throne will be born sooner than expected. We should start thinking about a name for our prince.”

Assuming it would be a boy without considering the possibility of a girl, Kasalyn felt uneasy about his twisted mindset for the first time.

But soon, she had no need to worry about it anymore.

A catastrophic carriage accident, as if by a cruel twist of fate, resulted in Kasalyn losing her unborn child.

The doctors diagnosed her with slim chances of conceiving again.

The palace was promptly informed about her condition.

Shalen remained incommunicado for a week before finally visiting her.

He announced, as if notifying her.

“Let’s call off the engagement.”

Kasalyn never expected his first words upon visiting his injured fiancée to be a breakup notice.

Even a gentle word of concern, an apology for not visiting sooner, would have spared her some dignity.

“Shalen. What are you saying?”

“I truly regret this.”

Kasalyn shook her head in disbelief, her face pale as a corpse.

“That’s not what I want to hear from you.”

“I believe you understand me well enough. I won’t repeat myself. We will handle the disengagement procedures. Please take care of yourself. Goodbye.”

With those words, Shalen turned his back, leaving without a second glance.
A tumultuous mix of sorrow and rage welled up in Kasalyn’s throat, leading to an explosive outburst of pent-up grievances.

“Look at these limbs! Do you not see the bandages wrapped around them?”

“Kasalyn.”

“You sweet-talked and enjoyed yourself, promising eternal happiness. And now, because of an accident that took our child, you’re discarding me just like that!”

“Kasalyn. The more you do this, the more disgraceful it becomes. Just stop.”

“Disgraceful…?”

Kasalyn couldn’t believe the words coming out of his mouth and doubted her own ears for a moment.

Shalen then added insult to injury by continuing.

“Kasalyn, I’m not just any man; I am the sovereign of this country. It’s my duty to quickly produce an heir and have a wife who can bear a healthy prince. How can I make you, who can no longer bear children, the queen?”

“Didn’t you say on the night we first spent together that you needed nothing but me? That you could even lay down your crown for my sake?”

A tsk sound was heard.

Shalen looked at Kasalyn with a pitiful expression, slowly shaking his head.

“Who would take such words literally?”

Kasalyn was left speechless.

She limped after him, still weak from her injuries.

In the living room, her anxious mother and sister bowed awkwardly to the departing Shalen.

“Shalen, wait. I’m not finished talking to you!”

“Oh, the red diamond necklace I gave you last time, please return it soon. You can keep the other gifts, but that necklace is only for the queen. Understand?”

“Fine. Take the necklace, take everything. Jewels mean nothing to me. All I wanted was for you to be by my side. That was all I ever wanted…”

Kasalyn said so, surprising even herself, realizing she truly loved him more than she thought.

But he was walking away, trampling on her broken heart.

“Since we’re now strangers, spare me such pathetic words. You might think of me as a bad man, but everyone has their priorities.”

The man called Shalen was gone.

In his place stood a cold king, shattering the past decade of memories and affection without hesitation.

As he seemed to vanish into the distance, Kasalyn found herself unable to utter a word.

“So, don’t cling to me pathetically.”

Those were Shalen’s final words, without even a basic farewell.

Their shared love during the engagement was nothing but a means to produce an heir.

“It’s ended up like this.”

Kasalyn’s stepmother, who had boasted to the neighbors about having a queen in the family, now looked at her with contempt.

To her stepmother, Kasalyn was a stepping stone to higher status and a tool to further her own daughter, Rose’s, prospects. The disappointment was immense.

“Behaving indecently and getting what you deserved! Our family’s honor is ruined. Rose’s marriage prospects are now forever hindered…”

Just a few days after receiving the disengagement news, an unexpected visitor arrived at the Duke Robervon’s mansion.

“Excuse me. I have come on behalf of His Majesty the King, from the royal palace.”

“His Majesty’s orders? Is it about Kasalyn…?”

“No, we have no more business with Miss Kasalyn. His Majesty seeks the second daughter of this house, Miss Rose Robervon.”

Hidden behind the stairs and observing the situation, Rose’s face lit up with an odd flush of color.
The officials from the royal court approached her and bowed respectfully.

“Congratulations. His Majesty the King has chosen Miss Rose Robervon as the next queen.”

Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife

I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro

When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.

After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.

Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.

Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.

At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.

Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.

The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.

He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.

[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]
