As he spoke, Parnes Escalo’s voice trembled slightly. With those final words, he left the scene.

The wind blowing from the plains shook the forest.Dry, tattered leaves fell like snowflakes above their heads.

Vincent silently bowed and followed Parnes Escalo.Nearby, Nigel, with an anxious expression, only glanced at Kasallin Robepon, unable to easily speak.

How long had they stood there?Slow footsteps approached from the side. It was Ludwig.

His wrinkled face, seen after so long, brought a slight sense of comfort.

“I greet Your Majesty the Empress. Everything is nearly settled, and all that remains is to return to the palace, but why does Your Majesty look so troubled?”

Ludwig, though he had overheard the earlier conversation with Parnes Escalo from afar, pretended otherwise as he asked.Kasallin Robepon responded with a face neither frowning nor smiling.

Ludwig gazed at the horizon of the plains, where dusk was beginning to settle.

“Do not take it too much to heart. His Majesty, though he may seem fine on the surface, was greatly shocked.Especially when Your Majesty the Empress collapsed from anemia, he feared something might have happened to Your Majesty’s health. The poor physician had to sweat quite a bit to reassure His Majesty.”

“I know. I understand His Majesty’s heart all too well. I can see it in his face.”

That was why her thoughts were so complicated. Guilt, pity, inexplicable anger, and an inability to hide her troubled heart overwhelmed her.Knowing that Parnes Escalo’s anger stemmed from his love for her made it all the more intense.

Ludwig, as if possessing some mystical ability to see through Kasallin Robepon’s innermost thoughts, offered his characteristic warm smile.

“His Majesty is likely thinking much the same as Your Majesty the Empress right now. With time, he will naturally come to understand Your Majesty’s heart, so do not worry.”

“Thank you for saying so.”

Kasallin Robepon gave a faint smile.Meanwhile, a knight approached from afar, informing them that the carriage for their return was ready.

Kasallin Robepon nodded and walked toward the carriage stationed at one side of the camp. The tents that had been lined up were now neatly cleared away, and the knights were mounting their horses one by one.

With Nigel’s assistance, Kasallin Robepon boarded the carriage. As she lifted the curtain and looked out the window, she saw Parnes Escalo busily talking with Sir Antonio.

For a moment, she found herself staring at his sharply chiseled profile, unaware. Then, as he suddenly turned his head, their eyes met.

He stood still, as if rooted to the spot, gazing silently at Kasallin Robepon, before taking the reins handed to him by a squire.

Despite being exhausted from days without proper rest, it seemed he intended to lead the procession on horseback rather than ride in the carriage.

“Antonio, Nigel. Take positions on either side of the carriage.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

After giving the order, Parnes Escalo slowly circled the carriage once, checking for any possible defects, before disappearing toward the distant front of the procession.

Kasallin Robepon leaned back against the seat, feeling an indescribable emotion swell in her chest.

The soft cushion at her back and the fur blanket gently enveloped her body.Surely, these too had been prepared by him.

The carriage, which had been traveling along a quiet road after leaving the plains, came to a stop as stars began to twinkle in the night sky.

Kasallin Robepon, who had been dozing with her head nodding, opened her eyes. She hurriedly tidied her disheveled hair and straightened her posture.

Contrary to her expectation that Nigel would come, it was Parnes Escalo’s face that appeared when the carriage door opened. With an impassive expression, he silently extended one arm toward her.

“This is the Seventh Star Palace. As it’s late, we’ll stay here for the night.”

Kasallin Robepon took his hand and carefully stepped down from the carriage. The surroundings were quite dark. He firmly wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her close.

“The ground is uneven. Stay close to me.”

The cool night breeze mingled with his fragrant scent, enveloping her senses. He led Kasallin Robepon along the path to the main entrance of the Star Palace.Soon, a caretaker hurried over, holding a lamp.

“I greet His Majesty the Emperor and Her Majesty the Empress. We were informed in advance by the messenger and have been waiting.”

“We’ll head straight to the bedchamber. Lead the way.”

“Yes, this way, please.”

The Seventh Star Palace was a small palace meant for traveling royals to rest overnight. The caretaker guided them to a two-story detached building, the innermost of several structures.

He took a bundle of keys from his pocket, unlocked the door, and opened it.A brightly lit living room and cozy bedchamber appeared before them.

“Everything has been prepared for Your Majesties to rest comfortably. Is it to your satisfaction?”

“This will do.”

“We are deeply honored. Is there anything else you require…”

“No. Tonight, I will personally attend to the Empress, so instruct everyone not to enter until I ring the bell.”

With that, Parnes Escalo dismissed the caretaker and led Kasallin Robepon inside. As she followed him, Kasallin Robepon glanced back at the door closing behind them.

There were many tasks, from bathing to dressing, that would typically require the help of maids, so why had he refused them?

Unable to understand, she looked at his back as he led her to an armchair by the lit fireplace and sat her down.

Kneeling at her feet, he naturally began to remove her shoes.Startled, Kasallin Robepon grabbed his wrist.

“Your Majesty, why are you doing this? Leave such tasks to the maids.”

“It’s fine. You don’t want to be surrounded by maids right now, do you?”

“Well… that’s true, but I cannot let Your Majesty do such menial work.”

“Don’t worry about it. I’m doing this because I want to.”

Parnes Escalo replied firmly.Kasallin Robepon, still uneasy, looked down at him at her feet but eventually entrusted herself to his hands.

In one swift motion, Parnes Escalo removed her high stockings and gloves, even undoing the ties that tightly bound her hair. Her dark, curly hair cascaded down past her waist.

Parnes Escalo gazed at the sight with quiet eyes for a moment before telling her to stand.

Kasallin Robepon rose awkwardly from the chair.Parnes Escalo moved behind her, reaching for the intricate laces tying the back of her dress.

Without a word, he skillfully untied the ribbons. The faint sound of silk brushing against silk was the only noise between them.

It reminded her of the time they were on the ship. Back then, too, he had untied her dress ribbons just like this.

The difference was that back then, they misunderstood each other’s hearts, but now they both knew. His willingness to use his noble hands to tend to his wife’s attire was not merely out of kindness or goodwill.

So there was nothing to hold back. All she needed to do was express the thoughts in her heart. They hadn’t fought out of hatred, so surely they could understand and reconcile.

“I…”

“I wasn’t trying to blame you.”

Just as Kasallin Robepon opened her mouth to speak, Parnes Escalo spoke first, as if he had been waiting for the right moment. His voice carried clear notes of apology.

Not long ago, he had been the one with a stern face, removing her shoes. It wasn’t anger but deep contemplation on how to apologize to her. Perhaps that was why he hadn’t let the maids in.

“Back on the plains, I couldn’t calm my excitement and ended up snapping at you, as if you had committed some grave mistake.”

“No, it’s not that.”

As he blamed himself, Kasallin Robepon, flustered, turned to face him.

“I did act recklessly. To follow you all the way to a battlefield in this condition—it wasn’t exactly rational behavior, even by my own judgment.”

“No. If I were you, I would have done the same. Just as you prioritized me and came all that way, you are the most precious thing in the world to me. I can understand you.”

Kasallin Robepon looked up at him, her eyes shimmering like the moon reflected on a lake.Facing him directly, sharing honest feelings, and trying to understand each other’s choices felt strangely profound.

Ludwig’s words, that there was nothing to worry about, were true. All Parnes Escalo needed was a little time to cool his emotions. He had respected Kasallin Robepon’s choices from the start.

“Yes. To me, Your Majesty is the most important person in this world. That’s why I couldn’t help but rush to you despite the danger.”

A faint blush spread across his neck and ears.He gazed at her with dreamy eyes.

“If you hadn’t appeared when you did, I might have been struck by an arrow and gravely wounded. The enemy king’s aide likely noticed my habit of removing my helmet during battle and was probably aiming for my neck.”

Kasallin Robepon shuddered lightly, as if chilled.Parnes Escalo raised a hand to cup her cold cheek. His thumb slid down her smooth skin, pausing near her lips.

“In the end, you saved me from danger. So I want to say this clearly: thank you for coming to me.”

Kasallin Robepon lowered her head, embarrassed.

“No, I’m the one who’s sorry for being more of a burden than a help.”

“No, it’s not something just anyone could do. It’s easy to say, but it takes extraordinary courage to act.I’m sure our child feels the same way.”

Their gazes turned simultaneously to the same place.Kasallin Robepon gently placed a hand on her noticeably swollen belly, and Parnes Escalo’s hand rested atop hers.

Though she couldn’t yet feel the baby’s movements, his words made it seem as if a warm energy was flowing from within.

Kasallin Robepon and Parnes Escalo smiled softly at each other, as if nothing more needed to be worried about.

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day

It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.

The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.

Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.

If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.

It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.

The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.

In the end, everything will come together and be explained.

One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!

In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.

Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.

However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.

Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.

Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?

——

Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.

His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.

Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”

——

The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.

Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!

Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!

The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…

——

But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.

The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.

She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…

Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”

Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”

Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

[Small Theater]

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.

Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”

Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.

Zhu Wansheng: ?

Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…

On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.

Warm breath lingers on her neck.

“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
