“The sinner Kasallin Robepon attempted to assassinate the Queen, so her crime is extremely grave.”
The man now passing judgment had once left his seed in her womb.
When was it that he whispered sweet words asking her to become the queen of this nation?
He was the fiancé who abandoned her like trash when she miscarried due to a carriage accident and received a diagnosis that she would never be able to conceive again.
“I, Shallen Riche, King of the Khan Kingdom, hereby classify her as a traitor to the state. I strip her of all authority and will execute the royal family’s highest punishment, death by burning.”
All she had wanted was just one warm word, a sincere apology, and a little bit of trust.
But he married her younger sister Rose as queen as if he had been waiting for it, and now, deceived by her shallow schemes, he mercilessly tries to burn her heart.
The heart that had been broken, scratched, and wounded countless times by his harsh words and cold treatment, leaving no part of it intact.
“Sob…”
Queen Rose, who stood next to him like a shadow, rolled her jet-black eyes and began to pretend to cry.

The sight of her trembling shoulders and thick tears falling was so pitiful.
Even Kasallin, who knew well that all of it was ridiculous pretense, was momentarily deceived.
“Push that witch-like woman into the fiery hell right now!”
Kasallin calmly watched the people approaching with blazing black torches.
Even in a situation where her entire body was about to burn to death in front of everyone, her heart was strangely at peace.
Rather, she felt like laughing.
“Don’t cling so pathetically.”
Just before the fire reached her feet, Kasallin muttered meaningfully.
Shallen quickly raised one hand.
“Wait. What did you just say?”

“It’s what you said when you abandoned me like a worn-out shoe before. Do you remember?”
“What?”
Wrinkles of irritation appeared on Shallen’s handsome face, which looked like a beautifully growing young boy.
His expression asked what nonsense she was talking about.
Right. There’s no way you’d remember.
“How can I make you queen when you can no longer bear children? Don’t cling so pathetically.”
If we think rationally, as a monarch of a nation, his actions weren’t wrong.
However, as a man who had sworn eternal love to a woman, it was something he should never have done.
“I swear on my heart. Kasallin. Even if I have to abandon the throne, I will love only you.”
If only he hadn’t told such lies back then.

If only he hadn’t constantly dragged her to secluded places, begging to spend sweet time together.
If only he hadn’t chosen his discarded fiancée’s younger sister as his new queen among all the women in the world, the situation wouldn’t have reached such a tragic end.
“But now you might be the one clinging pathetically to me. No, I’m certain you will.”
Kasallin spoke with a dizzying smile that made everyone in the execution ground lose their senses.
A woman who was once destined to be the perfect queen, but became a heinous criminal who tried to assassinate her younger sister who had become queen, blinded by jealousy.
As she was about to die under the death sentence from the king who was once her fiancé, people gathered in the square murmured that she must have finally gone mad.
Then an arrow flew at terrifying speed from somewhere and instantly cut the rope binding her arms.
Kasallin lightly stepped down from the execution platform and looked somewhere with the brightest smile.
“Em-Emperor Parnes has appeared!”
A man with an extraordinary physique slowly walked out from among the complicated crowd.
Even though he hid his appearance with a long cloak, his unique majesty could not be concealed.
His identity was that person everyone knew well.
The hegemon of the Western continent.
Emperor Parnes Escalo, called the absolute monarch of the Renel Empire.
“Everyone show respect. She is a precious woman who will become the Empress of the great Renel Empire.”
Kasallin smiled brightly at her former lover who still stood there dumbfounded, unable to grasp the situation.
It was the moment when she, who had been a traitor, rose to become the Empire’s Empress in an instant.
‘Don’t think it ends here, Shallen. Your regret is just beginning.’
And you will surely come to kneel before me.
Very pathetically at that.

Kasallin, the eldest daughter of the Marquis Robepon family, had never envied anyone in her life.
Born beautiful, she was followed everywhere by the title of the most beautiful girl in the Khan Kingdom, and at 16, she graduated from the Royal Academy as valedictorian, earning recognition for her talent.
When she debuted in high society upon her coming-of-age ceremony, she was already a celebrity.
From the Archbishop’s son to the Duke’s great-grandson.
She received marriage proposals almost daily from the young masters of prominent noble families in the Khan Kingdom, but rejected them all.
She knew that if she stepped into such a trivial life that would at best end up as the mistress of a ducal house, she would spend her life just guarding the house and caring for children.
Most importantly, Kasallin already had someone she loved.
“My beautiful Kasallin. I feel like I was born to meet you.”
It wasn’t difficult to develop love with Shallen Riche, the young king of the Khan Kingdom.
Shallen was a man without flaws.

His features, which still hadn’t completely shed their boyish charm and felt more beautiful than masculine.
The bright smile that occasionally appeared on his jade-like skin was something Kasallin particularly loved.
The man she first met at the debutante ball was a gentleman who was polite to his elders and never treated his subordinates carelessly.
Kasallin decided to devote her life to him and become an excellent queen in the future.
‘Surely a smooth and happy life will unfold.’
She believed this without doubt.
Not knowing that she would have his child before even holding the wedding ceremony.
[This is the timeline separator]“Shallen… I think I’m carrying your child.”
She thought she had made a big mistake as a future queen who should be careful with her conduct.
Shallen also seemed flustered at first. But soon he showed a calm reaction as if it wasn’t particularly surprising.

He even smiled.
“Oh my. The heir to the Khan royal family will be born earlier than expected. We should think about what to name our crown prince.”
Setting aside his tone as if he had expected her to conceive, he immediately talked about a crown prince when a girl could also be born.
For the first time, Kasallin felt uneasy that his way of thinking was somehow twisted.
But soon she wouldn’t need to worry about such things.
In a tragic carriage accident that could only be explained as fate’s prank, Kasallin lost the child in her womb in vain.
The doctor diagnosed that she would have difficulty conceiving in the future.
All news related to her was reported to the royal palace.
Shallen remained completely silent and only came to see her after a week had passed.
He spoke as if making an announcement.

“Let’s break off our engagement.”
She really hadn’t expected that the first thing her fiancé would say when visiting her as she lay bedridden after an accident would be an engagement cancellation notice.
If only he had said even one affectionate word like how much pain she must have been in from the injury, or that he was sorry for not coming sooner, she wouldn’t have felt this miserable.
“Shallen. What are you saying right now?”
“I truly think it’s regrettable.”
Kasallin shook her head frantically with a face pale as a corpse.
“I don’t want to hear those words from you.”
“I trust you understood well enough, so I won’t repeat it twice. We’ll handle the engagement cancellation procedures on our end, so you just focus on recovering. Well then, I’ll be going.”
Shallen turned around without hesitation as if he had nothing more to say.
Hot emotions, whether sadness or anger, surged from her throat, and the suppressed sorrow exploded.
“Look at these arms and legs! Don’t you see these bandages wrapped all around them?”
“Kasallin.”
“When you were coaxing me with sweet words and enjoying yourself, promising to make me happy forever, when was that? Now that the child is gone due to an accident, you’re going to abandon me and pretend you don’t know me!”
“Kasallin. The more you do this, the more unsightly you become. Stop it.”
“Unsightly…?”
Kasallin doubted her ears for a while, wondering if those words really came from his mouth.
Shallen continued speaking as if adding fuel to her despair.
“Kasallin. I’m not an ordinary man. I’m the monarch of this country. I have an obligation to produce an heir as quickly as possible and keep a wife by my side who can bear healthy princes. How can I make you queen when you can no longer bear children?”
“Didn’t you say with your own mouth on the night we first spent together that you needed nothing but me? That you could even lay down your crown for me?”
The sound of tongue-clicking was heard.

He gazed at Kasallin with a very pitiful expression and slowly shook his head.
“Who would take those words at face value?”
Kasallin was left speechless.
She limped after him with her still unhealed body.
Her mother and younger sister, who had been waiting anxiously in the living room, bowed their heads awkwardly toward Shallen as he came down with a stern face.
“Shallen. Wait. I’m not finished talking yet!”
“Oh right. I’d like you to return the red diamond necklace I gave you last time as soon as possible. You can keep other gifts, but that’s a jewel only the queen can possess. Do you understand?”
“Fine. Take the necklace or whatever, take it all. Jewelry doesn’t matter to me. I just wanted you to stay by my side. That was the only thing I wanted…”
Kasallin said this and was surprised at herself.
It was the moment she realized she truly liked him more than she had thought.

But he was trying to leave.
Trampling on her wounded heart like rags.
“Now that we’ve become strangers, don’t say such pathetic things. You’ll probably think I’m a bad man. But everyone has priorities.”
The man named Shallen she had known was nowhere to be found.
Now before Kasallin’s eyes stood only a strange king who shattered ten years of memories and affection without hesitation.
Feeling as if his figure was becoming infinitely distant, Kasallin couldn’t utter any words.
“So don’t cling so pathetically anymore.”
Those were Shallen’s last words.
He didn’t even give the common farewell of wishing her well.
She could no longer deny that all the love they had shared during their engagement was merely a means to produce a prince.

“So it’s come to this.”
Her stepmother, who had bragged to neighbors daily about how a queen would be born in their family, cast a contemptuous look at Kasallin.
To her stepmother, Kasallin had been both a stepping stone to leap to higher places and an important means to help her own daughter Rose succeed, so her disappointment would be great.
“You brought this punishment upon yourself by not conducting yourself properly and behaving vulgarly! Our family’s honor has been tarnished. Our Rose’s marriage prospects will be blocked forever…”
[This is the timeline separator]It was just a few days after receiving the engagement cancellation notice.
An unexpected guest visited the Marquis Robepon house, which had been shrouded in heavy silence.
“Excuse me. I’ve come from the royal palace on His Majesty’s orders.”
“His Majesty’s orders? Perhaps for Kasallin…?”
“No. We have no business with Miss Kasallin anymore. His Majesty is looking for this household’s second daughter, Miss Rose Robepon.”
A strange flush appeared on Rose’s face as she watched the situation from behind the stairs.

The officials from the court walked toward her and bowed respectfully.
“Congratulations. His Majesty the King has chosen Miss Rose Robepon as the next queen.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
