Realizing their close proximity, Yeon-woo hastily stepped back from him.

“Ah! I’m sorry! I was just trying to avoid someone I don’t want to meet…”

Gun wondered who she was avoiding so desperately, but before he could ponder further, a loud rumbling came from Yeon-woo’s stomach.

―Gurgle.

Hungry from not eating since leaving Kwang-ho’s army unit early in the morning, Yeon-woo’s stomach seemed to be crying out for food.

Gun gently asked,

“Are you hungry?”

“No! Not at all!”

But as she denied, her stomach betrayed her honesty.

―Gurgle.

Her stomach growled even louder, as if demanding food immediately.

Yeon-woo’s eyes wandered to the various foods displayed by the street vendors, tempting her with an array of rice cakes, pancakes, and fruits.

She tried to resist the temptation by closing her eyes, but her sense of smell became sharper, making it harder to ignore the allure of the food.
As soon as they exited Ki-hyang’s fabric store, Yeon-woo expressed her thanks to Gun.

“Thank you for the gift. I will wear it well.”

Though she managed to avert revealing her true identity by pretending to have a twin sister, she was still anxious.

Knowing her identity could be exposed at any time, Yeon-woo wanted to leave Gun’s company as quickly as possible.

She immediately bowed to say farewell.

“Then…….”

Just as Yeon-woo was about to leave, Gun grasped her arm.

“Wait.”

Gun felt reluctant to part ways with Yeon-woo so suddenly.

Since their encounter at Baekaksan, this was their first reunion, and he desired more time to talk and learn about her.

Yeon-woo, surprised by his grip, looked up at Gun with wide eyes.

“Do you have something to say?”

But Gun struggled to find a reason to keep her there.

This was his first time engaging in personal conversation with a woman and the first time he felt a desire to talk with a specific woman.

He wanted to tell her not to go but found himself tongue-tied.

While Gun was searching for an excuse, Yeon-woo noticed a familiar man in the distance.

Short and stout, with tiny eyes and unpleasant purple lips.

As soon as she spotted him, Yeon-woo’s body shivered.

‘Bae Young-gam?!’

Bae Jin-seo, also known as Bae Young-gam, appeared to be wandering the marketplace.

Luckily, he hadn’t noticed Yeon-woo yet.

Considering their proximity, an encounter seemed inevitable, prompting an anxious Yeon-woo to pull Gun into hiding.

Confused by her sudden action, Gun spoke.

“What are you doing…”

“Shh!”

Yeon-woo placed her finger on Gun’s lips to quiet him.

Trapped and unable to move, Gun looked down at Yeon-woo in his arms.

The scent of fresh grass emanated from her, the same fragrance he remembered from trainee Hong Yeon-woo.

‘Do twins share the same scent?’ he thought, as Yeon-woo peeked out from behind him to check the surroundings.

“Is it safe now?”

“Cough.”

At that moment, Gun, who had been silent, coughed.

Realizing their close proximity, Yeon-woo quickly stepped back from him.

“Ah! I’m sorry! I was just trying to avoid someone I really don’t want to meet…”

Gun wondered who she was so desperate to avoid, but before he could ponder further, a loud rumble came from Yeon-woo’s stomach.

―Gurgle.

Having not eaten since leaving Kwang-ho’s army unit early that morning, Yeon-woo’s stomach seemed to be crying out for food.

Gun gently asked,

“Are you hungry?”

“No! Not at all!”

But as she denied it, her stomach betrayed her honesty.

―Gurgle.

Her stomach growled even louder, as if demanding food immediately.

Yeon-woo’s eyes wandered to the various foods displayed by street vendors, luring her with an array of rice cakes, pancakes, and fruits.

She tried to resist the temptation by closing her eyes, but her sense of smell became sharper, making it harder to ignore the allure of the food.
As Gun’s gaze met Yeon-woo’s, a ticklish sensation spread from the tips of her toes to the top of her head.

Feeling an unfamiliar and poignant emotion, Yeon-woo hastily turned her head away, withdrawing her gaze.

She then hurriedly pulled out the box of honey rice cakes (kkultteok) she was carrying.

“Th-the rice cakes will get cold! My Lord, please have some with me!”

“What’s the problem if the rice cakes get cold?”

“Ah!”

Perhaps she had been too hasty.

As Yeon-woo fumbled with the lid of the box, her hand slipped.

Fortunately, Gun’s hand was quicker than the falling box.

But it wasn’t just the box that Gun had caught.

“……!”

“……!”

Gun’s large hand came to rest over Yeon-woo’s delicate, fiddlehead fern-like hand on the box.

The first time he touched a woman’s hand, it felt as fragile as plum tree branches and as smooth as touching jade.

In a world where casual contact between men and women was frowned upon, Gun quickly withdrew his hand.

The warmth of Yeon-woo’s hand lingered in his palm, slowly fading away.

Gun opened and closed his now empty hand, seemingly reluctant to let go of the sensation.

Was it because of the near fall of the box or the unexpected contact with Gun?

Yeon-woo, with eyes wide like a startled deer, couldn’t hide her surprise.

After Being Cheated On, She Picked Up a Treasure (Female-dominant)

One-line summary: The husband I married on a whim had been secretly in love with me for a long time.

On the day when Jun Shao finally obtained the imperial decree for her marriage, Lan Qu, the person she had admired for six years, defied the decree and ran away.

Her gentleness and devotion, her promise of a lifetime together, were all disregarded by him. Instead, he dreamed of entering the palace to serve the Emperor’s sister as a sixth-rank attendant.

News of this incident spread throughout the capital, and the alleys in front of and behind the Lan mansion were crowded with people who came to watch the commotion.

Jun Shao should have been embarrassed and angry.

But someone stepped in to protect her dignity.

The figure was in a miserable state, yet still possessed an undeniable elegance and handsomeness.

The young lord struggled to climb the wall of the Lan mansion and shouted to her, “If he won’t marry you, I will!”

So, Jun Shao took advantage of the situation and married the person.

She thought the young lord did it to save the Lan family from the crime of defying the imperial decree, but never imagined that from beginning to end, what he coveted was her.

*

After the wedding, Jun Shao felt like she was living in a dream.

Her Wife-master was as beautiful as a fairy in a painting, skilled in the six arts, well-versed in poetry and literature, capable of being gentle and attentive, and also grand and dignified. Most importantly, she was the only one in his heart and eyes.

Jun Shao didn’t know how Lan Shiwu, as a illegitimate son without a father and blessed with beauty, had managed to preserve his purity, recklessly escape, and use his last ounce of strength to ruin his own reputation, all because of his love for her, just to stand before her.

She could only see him gazing at her with eyes full of love, and when she bestowed a name upon him, his eyes shone like stars.

“You have come to me like a weary bird perching on a branch. I shall call you A Qi.”
