On a night shrouded in deep darkness, only the sound of crickets filled the silent Gwangho troops’ barracks, where the soldiers lay asleep. The only thing out of the ordinary was the new guard stationed in front of the food storage.

From a distance, the shadows of Gapdol and Chuncheol loomed, pacing around.

Gapdol, eyeing the guards in front of the storage, scratched his head in annoyance.

“Why’s there suddenly a guard on duty?”

Chuncheol, standing beside him, echoed the concern.

“Do you think they found out we’ve been raiding the storage?”

“We’ve done it more than once. If we were going to get caught, it would’ve happened by now.”

Gapdol tried to sound nonchalant, but his unease was evident.

The thought of not being able to pilfer supplies anymore left a bitter taste in his mouth.

Gapdol remarked with a hint of regret.

“Looks like our days of raiding the storage are over.”

“We’ve had our fill over time, though. I’m satisfied.”

“Yeah. Plus, we had some fun recently.”

Gapdol reminisced about Yeonwoo during the march.

Recalling her drunkenly staggering around, a sneer formed on his lips.

“Remember Hong Yeonwoo, that guy stumbling around drunk?”

“Yeah, I remember.”

“It was hilarious. Too bad we can’t see that again. Watching him float down the river was quite a sight.”

“But wasn’t that potentially dangerous?”

“What’s one life in the army? He seemed too feeble to last long anyway.”

“But we nearly caused an accident… it’s almost like attempted murder.”

Chuncheol’s hesitation to agree annoyed Gapdol, who thumped him on the head.

“Hey, Park Chuncheol! You thinking of backing out now? Like it or not, you’re in this with me. Don’t go blabbing.”

“Of course! We’re in this together! You know I can keep my mouth shut.”

Gapdol, often quick to anger, didn’t hesitate to use his fists.

Chuncheol, subdued by Gapdol’s menacing demeanor, had long been accustomed to such treatment.

Gapdol spat on the ground, expressing his dissatisfaction.

“Spit. Why did Lord Gwangho and the trainer even bother saving that guy? We could’ve been rid of him.”

Rubbing his head where Gapdol hit him, Chuncheol had a sudden thought.

“Hey, Gapdol, didn’t you notice something odd?”

“What?”

Gapdol focused on Chuncheol’s words, hoping for something interesting.

“The trainer. Didn’t you find his gaze towards Hong Yeonwoo a bit… intense? Like a man looking at a woman?”

“Well, that guy does look like a pretty boy. Even more feminine than some women.”

Thinking about it, Yeonwoo’s appearance could indeed pass for a woman’s.

Chuncheol then spoke up with a hint of suspicion.

“…What if that guy is actually a woman?”

“What?”

Gapdol looked at Chuncheol with disdain.

“Spit! You got some weird ideas. How would a woman get in here?”

“Think about it. His looks, his build. Wouldn’t it be stranger if he wasn’t a woman?”

“…….”
In the deep, dark night, only the sounds of crickets echoed through the sleeping barracks of the Gwangho troops. The notable difference was the newly stationed guard in front of the food storage. Gapdol and Chuncheol’s shadows lurked nearby, watching.

Gapdol, eyeing the guards at the storage, scratched his head in frustration.

“Why’s there suddenly a guard there?”

Chuncheol, standing beside him, worriedly chimed in.

“Did they discover us raiding the storage?”

“We’ve done it many times. If we were going to get caught, it would’ve happened by now.”

Gapdol tried to sound casual, but he was equally nervous.

Thinking about the supplies they could no longer pilfer, he felt a bitter taste rise.

Gapdol muttered resentfully.

“So, are we forced to stop raiding the storage now?”

“We’ve had our fill anyway. I’m content.”

“Yeah. Plus, we had our fun recently.”

Gapdol reminisced about Yeonwoo’s drunken antics.

“Remember Hong Yeonwoo stumbling around drunk?”

“Yeah, how could I forget?”

“It was hilarious. Shame we can’t see that again. His floating down the river was quite a sight.”

“But wasn’t that dangerously close to causing harm?”

“What’s one more death in the army? He looked too weak to last anyway.”

“But we almost caused an accident… it’s akin to attempted murder.”

As Chuncheol hesitated to agree, Gapdol punched him on the head.

“Hey, Park Chuncheol! Trying to back out now? You’re in this with me, whether you like it or not. Keep your mouth shut.”

“Right, right! We’re in this together! I know how to keep quiet.”

Gapdol often resorted to his fists in anger.

Intimidated by Gapdol’s aggression, Chuncheol had long learned to keep low.

Gapdol spat on the ground, expressing dissatisfaction.

“Spit. Why did Lord Gwangho and the trainer bother saving him? We could’ve been rid of him.”

Rubbing his head where he was hit, Chuncheol suddenly had a thought.

“Hey, Gapdol, did you notice something odd?”

“What?”

Gapdol focused on Chuncheol, curious about his words.

“The trainer. Didn’t you find his gaze towards Hong Yeonwoo a bit… intense? Like a man looking at a woman?”

“Well, that guy does look pretty. More feminine than some women.”

Male lead is a Love-Obsessed Merman

When he discovers she has gone, he risks everything to pursue her on land, enduring agonizing pain to transform his tail into human legs…

One-line summary: Male lead chases female lead. The male lead’s love is a bit sick, an invincible love brain.

Synopsis

During a voyage at sea, Jiang Yang accidentally captures a merman.

Servant: I heard that mermen are fierce and brutal.

Jiang Yang looks at the merman obediently rubbing her palm like a puppy: “You call this fierce and brutal?”

Servant: I heard that mermen have no human nature.

Jiang Yang looks at the merman with wet puppy eyes, obsessively calling her ‘A Yang’ like a childish infant: “You call this having no human nature?”

With great difficulty, she releases the merman back into the sea and returns to shore.

Who would have thought that in less than half a month, the merman, who should have been freely wandering in the South China Sea, would shed his scales, endure the pain of losing his tail, transform into human legs, and come ashore to find her?

He kneels at her feet, rubbing her palm, with merman tears rolling down: “A Yang, don’t abandon me.”
