“Thank you for bringing me. You’ve been through a lot because of me today.”
Bi-yeong stared fixedly at Yeon-woo standing in front of him.
Thinking that Yeon-woo would enter the house where Geon lived, he didn’t want to send her away.
Breathing felt blocked at the thought of Yeon-woo being farther away as she got closer to Geon.
It was hard for Bi-yeong to endure as Yeon-woo, who was getting closer to Geon, was moving away from him.
Whenever Yeon-woo looked at someone else, Bi-yeong’s chest tightened.
It was excruciating every time Yeon-woo’s gaze toward others was different from the gaze directed at him.
At such moments, Bi-yeong felt like he might be forever separated from her.
“Well……”
As Yeon-woo bowed and was about to go inside, Bi-yeong’s soft voice grabbed her.
“Yeon-woo.”
“Yes?”
Turning around as she was called, Yeon-woo entered the house.
“If you could live a better life……”
Bi-yeong gazed at Yeon-woo with a more poignant look than ever before.
“If you could live comfortably with your true self, how would you feel?”
“What are you talking about?”
Bi-yeong fixed his gaze on Yeon-woo.
“If you could live without being forced into an unwanted life, achieving the dreams you want, what would you do?”
Yeon-woo responded with just a gentle smile.
“If I could live like that, wouldn’t I have chosen that path long ago?”
“There is a way to live like that.”
“What is that way?”
While Bi-yeong’s atmosphere was somewhat serious, Yeon-woo, who couldn’t discern his intentions, asked lightly.
But the next words from Bi-yeong were far from lightweight.
“The way is to marry me.”
“What?”
Yeon-woo momentarily wore a puzzled expression, wondering if she had misheard.
However, the returning response, clear and straightforward, proved that she hadn’t misheard.
“If you can live that way, how about it?”
“If you marry me, you won’t need to cross-dress, and you’ll be able to live comfortably as a woman. There will be no one who disrespects your opinion, and you won’t have to worry about your livelihood.”
A different atmosphere emanated from Bi-yeong than usual.
The sight was so unfamiliar that it seemed like a different Bi-yeong from the one Yeon-woo knew.
“In the backyard of our married home, I will create a training ground where you can practice, and in the front yard, I will make a pond that you like.”
Bi-yeong’s confession didn’t end here.
“In spring, we will plant cherry blossoms; in summer, peonies; in autumn, lotus flowers; and in winter, camellias, creating a garden where you can see flowers throughout the year.”
The world Bi-yeong described was so idealistic that it felt like a dream bordering on the absurd.
Moreover, it was a life so sweet that Yeon-woo had never dared to dream of.
“When the morning sun rises, I’ll comb your hair. When the night comes, I’ll play your favorite gayageum when the crickets chirp. And when darkness falls, I’ll watch over you so you won’t be chased by nightmares.”
A life spent with Yeon-woo from the moment she opened her eyes until she closed them.
Bi-yeong poured out the future he had long dreamed of in front of Yeon-woo.
“I will be your greatest shield, so an incident like today will never happen again.”
In Bi-yeong’s eyes, there was nothing but longing and thirst for one person.
Then, he brought forth a long-hidden desire before the person concerned.
“Will you marry me?”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
