Adrian followed him with a steady gaze until the King of Fitzroy sat upon the throne placed in the center of the audience chamber.

The King of Fitzroy was a couple of years younger than Frederick. Yet seeing him look far older than before, Adrian suddenly realized just how much his own father, Frederick, had aged as well.

The leaders of their nations, whom he had believed would remain vigorous for life, were now preparing to hand over power to their successors.

Adrian recognized that this moment was the most perfect testing ground ever given to him and, unlike his usual self, felt tense.

A moment later, after the King of Fitzroy had taken his seat, he faced Adrian, who stood side by side with Isabella.

As if to prove the rather poor relationship between Harkin and Fitzroy, he did not force even a pretentious smile.

With a hardened expression, he offered his greeting.

“It has been a long time. I am glad you arrived safely without incident after traveling such a long distance, Crown Prince Rains of Harkin.”

The content was also an extremely formal greeting. Since Adrian had fully expected this much, he did not mind it greatly. He lightly bowed his head while placing his right hand over his chest.

The King of Fitzroy stared fixedly at Adrian, who was much younger than himself, then soon gestured to Isabella beside him.

“Princess, you may retire now. You have worked hard bringing the Crown Prince all the way here, so you should rest.”

This part had apparently not been agreed upon in advance, for Isabella looked slightly flustered at her father’s command.
