The count placed his gloved hand gently against his chest and smiled.

“I’m deeply moved—you seem to trust me sincerely.”

Isabella, watching Count Orson reply with sharp eyes, mirrored his expression by lifting both corners of her lips into a smile.

Though the meaning behind her smile was rather ambiguous, Count Orson calmly held her gaze without flinching.

Isabella blinked once and replied lightly,

“Of course, Count Orson—I trust you especially. After all, I adore your intellect.”

“It is a tremendous honor to receive your acknowledgment, Your Highness. Then, once Crown Prince Rains arrives, shall we at the comital house host him?”

As he asked, the count grew tense, unable to discern whether Isabella knew ‘everything,’ had merely guessed part of it, or knew absolutely nothing at all.

Ideally, within Fitzroy, avoiding any contact with Adrian would have been best—but given the circumstances, outright refusal wasn’t an option. Deep down, he hoped she’d retract this decision.
