He also learned that the assigned cabin was right next to the Count’s—Brian was in the room to the Count’s right, and Laila was in the one to his left.

It was all Adrian’s arrangement.

Both Brian and Laila were utterly astonished to meet the Count, of whom they had only heard rumors. Thus, it was the Count who guided the conversation.

He brought up what could almost be called their sole shared interest.
