“I’ve devised a way to follow the Emperor’s wishes without shedding blood.”
“The Emperor’s wishes…”
Lilburn, unaware of Adrian’s true intentions, pondered over his casually spoken excuse. Adrian, feeling a bit guilty for deceiving him, elaborated.
“The Emperor wishes for the unification of the Damburnt Continent. However, our continent faces too many dangers. There’s no need to spill blood in a war against small countries.”
The Damburnt Continent, located in the southwest of the world, is the largest of the four major continents. Rich in resources and abundant in food due to the great blessings of nature, most of its countries are quite prosperous.
However, as with light comes darkness, the continent has a fatal feature distinct from the others.
Lands suitable for human habitation are overrun with threatening animals and monsters.
Especially, the number of monsters inhabiting the Damburnt Continent is estimated to be more than ten times that of other continents.
As a result, monster waves frequently occur across the continent.
In Damburnt, a nation’s defense capability naturally became its strength, and a few prominent countries divided up much of the continent.
These successful countries shared a common feature: their ruling class possessed what’s known as special abilities, often above ordinary levels.
The Hankin Empire also has a line of strong psychokinetic abilities in its royal bloodline.
Adrian Pinter Rains.
As the 27th Crown Prince of the Rains Imperial Family, he too was a psychokinetic and had been dealing with numerous monster waves since childhood with his unprecedented strong abilities.
Given this, apart from the recently concocted excuse, his aversion to the battlefield was a definite reality.
“Once devastated, land is hard to restore.”
Murmuring this, Lilburn gazed at him. Sensing his earnest look, Adrian met his eyes, raising his eyebrows as if to invite him to speak his mind.
“What about Princess Laila of Wessex?”
It was a piercing question, as if seeing through him. Adrian tried not to show any disturbance as he responded.
“Didn’t I say I don’t care about her?”
His tone might have sharpened due to his heightened sensitivity. However, Lilburn, seemingly oblivious, continued in a lowered voice with a serious tone.
“Your Highness, the situation in Wessex is not ordinary. You’ve heard about the spies from Fitzroy in the royal court?”
The Kingdom of Fitzroy was the second-largest country on the Damburnt Continent after Hankin. Their relationship with Adrian had been strained recently, but their history went back further.
“Yes, I’ve heard. But how does that relate to Laila Wessex right now?”
“It might be related.”
“Has anything changed that I should know about?”
“The 1st Princess of Fitzroy, Isabella, is reportedly planning a coup.”
Isabella of Fitzroy. As her familiar name reached him, Adrian’s eyebrows shot up.
She was the reason why he considered Fitzroy a headache. For some reason, she persistently followed and thwarted his plans.
Even recently, when he went to clear a monster wave in a neighboring kingdom, she had already handled it and took the reward – an item crucial for Adrian.
He still remembered her words when he arrived, her eyes crinkling as she smiled.
“Come to Fitzroy if you want it. If you’re too late, I might just use it myself.”
“Come to Fitzroy if you want it. If you’re too late, I might just use it myself.”
Just thinking about it exhausted Adrian, who narrowed his eyes and sighed.
“Isabella is finally… I knew she would eventually. She overestimates her abilities.”
“The problem is, she’s planning to kidnap Prince Cedric of Wessex.”
Kidnap?
Adrian furrowed his brow at the unexpected word from Lilburn.
Cedric was the name of the youngest prince of Wessex. The last time Adrian saw him, before Wessex separated from the Empire, Cedric was just a five-year-old boy. He wouldn’t be much older now.
“Explain.”
“Rumors say Prince Cedric’s tuning ability is the most remarkable, and currently, Princess Isabella of Fitzroy is severely injured after dealing with a monster wave in the north of Fitzroy.”
“I’m aware of that. But how does that lead to a kidnapping plan?”
“The King of Wessex has offered his daughter to the 1st Prince.”
“……Ha.”
Adrian let out a bitter laugh.
‘That hopeless man.’
The current King of Wessex was so pitiful that Adrian didn’t even want to grant him the title of ‘king’.
He betrayed the Hankin Empire a decade ago and established a new kingdom, but he hardly seemed like a groundbreaking figure. Rather, he seemed more like a libertine, possibly even considering selling off his own children, as he had produced so many heirs, legitimate and illegitimate alike. He acknowledged none of the illegitimate children, adopting them as his own.
With nearly twenty children, most of the princesses of Wessex were married off to other countries. The King of Wessex was particularly unfriendly to Hankin, treating other nations more leniently.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!
This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
