Lakrahan was enduring Kelita’s unblinking stare from beside him with intense displeasure.

Below the dais, people were dancing, and right next to him, Gerard was conversing with nobles who had swarmed around him like a swarm of bees.

The air was thick and hazy, as though shrouded in fog, from the tobacco the men and women were smoking while seated on chairs.

“Why are you staring like that, Princess Kelita?”

At Lakrahan’s low, calm voice, Kelita lifted the corners of her lips in a faint smile.

“It’s just hard to believe that the Imperial Court is watching a duke like this.”

“Well, this isn’t my first time at the Imperial Court. Such things have happened before.”

“Still, it feels more special now.”

“Is that so?”

Lakrahan withdrew even the last trace of his gaze and rested his chin indifferently on his hand.

One of his hands was beneath his chin, the other tucked inside his cloak, into the pocket of his leather vest.

“There’s nothing special left between you and me, Princess Kelita. I assumed you already knew that.”

“If there isn’t, we’ll just make something.”

Kelita grinned cheerfully, as if wondering what the problem was.

“If you refuse to marry me, I’ll have no choice but to push forward on my own.”
