He had loved his people, believing that his own voids and wounds would be filled if he only kept that love. He had been under the illusion that he wouldn’t have any regrets for living for that.

“But when one person loves another, when it’s a love just between two, it may cool down slowly, but it’s not easy to betray. He said that making a lifelong partner in marriage was more important in his life.”

Lakrahan narrowed his eyes slightly and then slowly tilted his head, asking, “So what happened next?”

“He passed away not long after getting married. He fell ill.”

“I see.”

“A few days before he passed, I happened to be passing by and visited him…”

Unknowingly, Lakrahan slightly leaned his upper body forward.
“At the end of his life, he said that he had made the wisest choice just once.”

“It seems the end wasn’t so lonely then.”

“Yes, it seemed that way.”

Lakrahan gave a light nod and changed the atmosphere around him.

“Thanks for the story, Timothy.”

“Yes, Your Grace. If you have any orders, call for me.”

Just as Timothy was about to leave, Lakrahan called him back with a sudden thought.

“If you happen to see Tatianna while you’re out, could you tell her I’m looking for her?”

“The little one?”

He lowered his head and responded as if it was nothing.

“Yeah, I have something to ask her.”

“Understood.”

Timothy quietly closed the door behind him and walked down the hallway. He paused for a moment to gaze back at the study where Lakrahan was.

[Star Icon]

Bercheria was walking alongside the river with Loren as the sun began to set.

The sky across the river was filled with a vivid sunset that romantically enveloped the two of them.

The sight of Loren, whose hair matched the color of the sunset, walking there was absolutely captivating.

Loren was hesitating, unable to bring up what he needed to say, just gauging Bercheria’s mood.

“Bercheria, were you upset that I gave you the rope?”

Bercheria’s pupils, encased in her widened eyelids, emitted a soft glow as if sprinkled with gold dust.

Could there be anyone who wouldn’t fall in love at first sight after seeing such eyes?

“If it weren’t for that rope, I would still be trapped in the tower.”
“Do you remember what you asked me back then?”

“Yes, I remember.”

Bercheria had asked this.

Was his purpose to take her to Deriansis?

Or was it to steal her power like her mother had?

“You know you didn’t give me a chance to explain myself regarding that question, right?”

For Bercheria, it was a situation where she had to be on guard.

Her will to escape the tower was clearly her own, but hearing now that everything was premeditated could only make her overthink.

However, one thing was certain: without that rope, she would not have been able to escape the tower.

Bercheria stopped walking and turned to face Loren.

In truth, she should have said this first.

“I am truly grateful that you helped me out of the tower, Prince Loren.”

As she slightly lifted her dress and bowed, the owl perched on Bercheria’s shoulder also tilted its head.

Loren, with cheeks flushed red, raised a hand to his chest and responded.

“No need to mention it, my lady.”

Bercheria, now standing upright, again asked the question she had been waiting for.

“So, will you answer me now?”

She had not yet heard the actual reason why he had done it.

She had followed him without hesitation when he suggested a walk, just to hear this reason.

“Ask anything. What would you like me to answer?”

“Why did you try to rescue me from the tower when you knew nothing about me?”
“Ah, there’s a reason for that, Bercheria.”

At first, when Loren heard about Bercheria from Velophaia, the guardian deity of the sea protecting Deriansis, he wasn’t as serious as he is now.

A goddess trapped in a tower by humans.

A pitiful deity who had her powers stolen and had even forgotten who she was.

How many people could truly respect or revere such a deity?

Loren, being the crown prince of the empire, also had a dismissive attitude toward Bercheria before meeting her in person.

“Bercheria, have you ever wondered? Why did the Supreme Deity send three gods down to protect this continent?”

People rarely question things that exist from the beginning.

What they are curious about is solely whether it benefits or harms them.

“Look at this.”

Loren squatted on the ground like a child and drew a triangle at a precise angle.

“For a very long time, these three gods have been maintaining the balance of this continent. All with equal force, without any distortion. So, these three are essentially a team.”

Loren grinned.

When this continent was first created, the Supreme Deity hid a secret somewhere on this land that the world should never know.

And to protect that secret, he sent down three gods.

As long as each of them fulfilled their roles from their respective places, everything on this land could live under secure protection.
“The humans who imprisoned you probably didn’t think this far. They likely focused only on what was immediately visible.”

It was a story Bercheria knew nothing about.

A story that was also absent from her memories.

As if already knowing what Bercheria was thinking, Loren smiled.

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day

It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.

The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.

Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.

If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.

It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.

The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.

In the end, everything will come together and be explained.

One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!

In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.

Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.

However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.

Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.

Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?

——

Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.

His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.

Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”

——

The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.

Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!

Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!

The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…

——

But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.

The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.

She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…

Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”

Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”

Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

[Small Theater]

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.

Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”

Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.

Zhu Wansheng: ?

Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…

On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.

Warm breath lingers on her neck.

“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
