“Enough of this useless debate.”

Gerard stood up from his seat as if he were tired of it all.

“My view that we must open the portal and capture Bercheria remains unchanged. Do you understand what that means?”

The bureaucrats, who until now had been eager to voice their thoughts, fell silent.

Gerard waved his hand in the air as if annoyed.

“Let’s vote then. We must use that child and head north immediately. Raise your hands.”

Gerard raised his own hand to show the bureaucrats.

He then made eye contact with each one of them.

“It’s fine. Don’t mind me. Go on.”

As Gerard’s gaze met theirs, the elderly bureaucrats began raising their hands one by one.

“Unanimous.”

Gerard said with a very satisfied voice.

All preparations for heading north were complete.

“I visited a village near the border this morning. I’ve brought enough provisions to last about two weeks.”

“Hmm.”

Lakrahan, who had been out all morning, was held up by Timothy, attending to postponed matters.

He glanced once toward the bedroom where Bercheria would be waiting and then refocused on Timothy.

“How are the people there?”

Timothy shook his head with a stiff face.

“It’s terrible. The news that Bercheria has returned has already spread, and the people are full of hope, but they’re still starving.”

“Was the ground dry again this morning?”

“Yes. Only that place still hasn’t received any rain.”
Lakrahan wiped his tired face.

“What could be the reason?”

Could it be because Bercheria hadn’t yet recovered her full strength?

Or was it simply because that land was isolated, cut off from the rest?

He had never been to the small border village except for the first time they had settled in the North.

“The population isn’t large, so there weren’t any distinguishing features. Everyone seemed average, and there were no notable nobles.”

“Arrange a schedule for me when you have the time.”

“Will you go yourself?”

“I think that would be best. I have my concerns. How are the wedding preparations?”

Timothy looked out the window as if checking something.

“Progressing smoothly, as long as the Captain of the Knights doesn’t mess anything up.”

Lakrahan laughed with a sound like a sigh escaping.

“That’s a relief.”

Timothy hesitated for a moment before cautiously speaking.

“Um, Your Grace.”

At the sound of his name being called in a slightly more serious tone than usual, Lakrahan put down his pen and looked at Timothy.

“Speak. Whatever it is.”

“While I understand your thoughts, I do have some concerns. No human has ever married a goddess before, and this goddess is not yet stable, is she?”

“Calling Bercheria unstable is incorrect. She’s been holding up very well, even in situations where anyone could despair. The truly unstable ones are the people. They can’t distinguish what to believe and what not to.”

“Do you have no regrets about this marriage?”

“When have I ever made a choice I regret? Or made a choice and then regretted it?”
“No, of course you’ve never had any.”

Lakrahan was well aware of Timothy’s concerns as well.

Objectively speaking, it was true that Princess Kelita of the Empire would have been a much more stable marriage partner.

By marrying Kelita, he could also foster more amicable relations with both the Emperor and the people of the North.

Though it would be quite painful for him personally.

Lakrahan chuckled lightly.

“Is there such a thing as a choice without regret in this world?”

“Perhaps there could be.”

“Timothy.”

“Yes, Your Grace.”

“In this world, nothing is truly normal. Even when I act for others, it ends up being a double-edged sword. In times like these, making a choice fitting the chaos might have its own significance.”

Bercheria had done nothing wrong.

The world had begun to change after she disappeared; it was because human greed had grown boundlessly.

She had suffered the most amidst all this, and now people were even blaming her for war and poverty.

Lakrahan was becoming increasingly disgusted by the duplicity of humans.

Once, he had thought he would do anything to protect his people, but since meeting Bercheria, his world had begun to shift.

Timothy suddenly smiled.

“Looking at you, Your Grace, reminds me of something from the past.”

“What is it?”

“When I was young, I had the honor of serving someone famous in music. They were so renowned that even the royal family had to make a prior appointment and wait.”
Back then, Lakrahan must have been very young.

Even Timothy was not the grandfather he is now but a sprightly young man.

“And then he suddenly fell in love and decided to give up all his music, even when he was at the height of his career.”

“Ah.”

“So, I asked him, ‘Isn’t it better to receive love from the public?'”

The musician responded like this.

‘They give me money, they give me love, and they would even cheer if I played with my feet. But Timothy, the love of the public is always ready to betray me. For people to turn their back on love is as easy as skipping breakfast.’

What the musician said resonated with what Lakrahan was feeling now.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
