Kellyta still can’t forget the feeling when she first saw Rakrahan. Amidst the people who treated him as a hero, his face remained indifferent, and his voice settled calmly. Being the possession of a cheeky boy, everything Rakrahan had seemed rough. In response to the Emperor’s words that he would give anything if desired, he answered with a voice filled with suppressed desire. “Restore the abandoned land, the northern part of Edkins.” That would be enough. Kellyta didn’t even know what that meant, but she had to secretly calm her pounding heart. Rakrahan was that kind of person. In the dark night sky, a moon emitting light alone, or like flames one would endlessly gaze into as if enchanted. Warm and brilliant.
“Rakrahan.”
Kellyta embraced Rakrahan, who was lying on the table, burying her face in his neck. The chilling energy from the still not disappeared northern aura hid in his neck, cooling her forehead. Every time she met him through the portal, Kellyta wanted to embrace him in her arms as if going mad. She wanted to know how warm the inside of the cold man was.
“Ah, Rakrahan.”
A responsible man would have to appear at the wedding without hesitation once the moment in bed with the princess was revealed to the public. Lawrence’s words were right. And strangely enough, the empress was crying.
“I have to thank you for making it more important to make Vercheria give up than to have Rakrahan. Got it?”
“Because she’s an inexplicable woman.”
Kellyta clicked her tongue and stood up Rakrahan. Then, she dug between him and the table, supporting his large body. The distance to the bed was only a few steps, but it wouldn’t be easy to move Rakrahan, who was tall. Even so, Kellyta didn’t feel any discomfort.
“Rather than stupidly waiting all this time, huh! This is a hundred times better!”
Kellyta, muttering like an ant carrying a large food, took Rakrahan to the bed.
“I can’t understand that woman at all.”
Kellyta clicked her tongue, lifted her chin, and stood up Rakrahan’s body.
Then, she squeezed between him and the table, supporting his large body.
The distance to the bed was only a few steps, but moving Rakrahan, who was tall, wouldn’t be easy.
Even so, Kellyta didn’t feel any discomfort.
“Rather than stupidly waiting all this time, huh! This is a hundred times better!”
Kellyta, muttering like an ant carrying a large food, took Rakrahan to the bed.
“Groovy. Come here.”
Vercheria called Groovy, who had a contemplative expression.
Groovy habitually blinked and bowed his head in greeting to Vercheria and Rosie, then approached closely.
“Are you ready?”
“Yes.”
When Vercheria first saw Lionne without a wig, she had told Groovy to wait pretending not to know.
After that, Groovy never came out of the room.
When Vercheria went to see him, he seemed to have organized his thoughts to some extent.
‘Vercheria. I don’t know why I haven’t had such thoughts until now. … I may not have been born in prison. My mother may not have died in prison either. I haven’t seen anything with my own eyes.’
“Whatever story you hear, there’s one thing I can promise Groovy.”
“Please tell me, Vercheria.”
“From now on, where Rakrahan and I are will be Groovy’s home.”
“… Vercheria.”
Groovy’s eyes became moist.
He wiped his eyes with the back of his hand, smiled slightly, and straightened his shoulder.
Vercheria clenched her fist and led the way, following Rosie.
“Here it is.”
Rosie guided them to the oldest-fashioned dormitory among the places where palace servants stayed.
The palace frequently changed the servants’ quarters every year according to the order in which they needed to move.
But if it was such a deep place, it could also be interpreted as having a position in the remote region with no need to move unless necessary.
Rosie explained to Vercheria and Groovy, who were looking around restlessly.
“It’s a servant’s quarters. I’ve been here in the palace for a very long time. Perhaps everyone born here has passed through Agnes’s hands.”
After standing still again, Rosie added.
“All of them without exception.”
The carpet on the palace floor disappeared, and the creaking wooden floor revealed itself.
“Since my hearing is a bit bad, if possible, you should speak loudly.”
Rosie removed the cobwebs and walked to a corner of the corridor, knocking on the worn-out door with a surprisingly loud sound.
After that, she opened the door and ushered the two inside.
In the middle of the room, an old woman who was sitting slowly lifted her head and looked at Vercheria and Groovy approaching her.
“Ah.”
Agnes opened her wrinkled mouth, and her lips, where only a few remaining teeth were sparsely visible, smiled brightly like a child.
“You’ve grown up very beautifully.”
Although her pronunciation was slightly different, it was not to the extent that it couldn’t be understood.
Agnes raised a stick-like hand and gestured for Vercheria and Groovy to come closer.
As they approached hesitantly, Agnes covered both of their hands with her hand, on which mushrooms had bloomed.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
