Then he thumped his chest as if frustrated.

“Listen to me carefully.”

Loren spoke of seeing Muha in the tree and then finding Bercheria hanging on a railing afterward.

“On the railing…”

Lakrahan’s voice was subdued as he forced out the words.

“Anyway, it seemed like they had some sort of agreement. When Bercheria made smoke signals, Muha came and took her right away. To be precise, it’s the Earth God Dikper.”

Lakrahan furrowed his brows for a moment.

“Dikper?”

He knew who the god was and what he protected, even if the name wasn’t familiar.

After all, he was one of only three gods on the continent.

“Why is the god of the Kontana kingdom in Feriat?”

“That… I don’t know either? Hmm. Why did he come?”

Lakrahan massaged his temples, as if he had a headache.

“How did you know Bercheria is in the nest?”

“Ah, that.”

When Loren paused, Lakrahan subtly raised his head, urging him to continue.

Loren smiled awkwardly.

“I can’t say.”

He didn’t want to say that he was too slow to catch up to Muha.

In the end, Velopfai, who remembered the fact that condors build nests on cliffs, found all the nests through the ocean and thereby found Bercheria.

Explaining all of this to Lakrahan might require starting from the very beginning of the legend of the absolute god.

Furthermore, saying too much about Velopfai could also be problematic.

“Lakrahan. Just trust me for now.”

“What reason do I have to trust Prince Loren?”

“Ah! Seriously! This is frustrating!”

Nonetheless, they couldn’t just not go to rescue Bercheria, so Loren grabbed Lakrahan by the collar and pulled him close.

Completely unprepared for Loren’s action, Lakrahan lost his balance, and their faces almost touched.

“What the hell are you doing?”

Lakrahan yelled out, frowning deeply.

“Why do you keep clinging to people!”

Because of this, his trust in Loren’s story about Bercheria was getting shaky.

If they carelessly believed Loren and left the castle, and Bercheria collided with Emperor Gerard’s men, it could lead to a much bigger problem.
In the absence of Lakrahan, if the portal opened and led to the royal palace, the time difference could have been too great, posing a risk.

“Look, Your Grace. Can’t you just trust me? Why are you so skeptical! I’m the crown prince of Deriansis, you know?”

“Whether you’re a prince or whatever, shouldn’t you say something convincing for me to believe you? If you suddenly yell at me to trust you, would Prince Loren trust you?”

“What nonsense. Why would I, Duke Lakrahan, trust you?”

“Why should I trust you?”

“Because it’s true!”

“Prince Loren, are you playing word games now?”

“Ah, I’m going crazy!”

Loren’s voice was one of utter annoyance.

“If you don’t want to believe, then don’t! As if I would tell Bercheria’s whereabouts to a rival, seeking wealth and honor. I must be mad.”

As Loren turned to leave, Lakrahan grabbed his clothes this time.

“Ah!”

Suddenly, his breath was choked off, and Loren had no choice but to stop.

“Fine. I believe you. Where are you now?”

Although Loren was an untrustworthy person, Lakrahan had no choice but to clutch at straws now.

Bercheria, who had left on her own, was highly unlikely to return to Lakrahan’s castle as long as Emperor Gerard existed.

He needed to know where she was, whether she was alright, and if she was in a safe situation for him to continue his normal life.

He couldn’t keep wasting time worrying about Bercheria.

“If Bercheria is not there, you should be prepared.”

As Loren glared at him, Lakrahan ordered the nearby knights to prepare two horses.

“Let’s hurry up and confirm then.”

As he flung his cape and walked to the stable, Loren shoved his hand into his pocket and followed him.

Bercheria had never seen such a horrifying sight in her life.

A man with blue hair and blue eyes had a lizard’s body.

It was terrifying enough to appear in dreams.

“Ah!”

As Bercheria tried to run in the opposite direction, the lizard man spoke.

“Lakrahan.”

Bercheria turned her head with a puzzled look.

Belropai, who had been indifferent all along, frowned upon seeing Bercheria.

When Belropai transformed into an owl, his senses and thoughts shrank accordingly.

Though it was better than being human, it was not as usual.

“Indeed. You look back.”

Belropai smiled contentedly.

He glanced at where Dikpa was and gestured Bercheria to come his way.

“Come closer. I can’t stay for long.”

Bercheria looked at Belropai skeptically.

“Hurry.”

Yet when he started listing names out of nowhere, “Owl, Loren, Lakrahan, Timothy…”

In the end, Bercheria couldn’t resist and approached the lizard man.

“Ugh.”

Yet, it was naturally weird enough to groan.

“I felt some power before, but why don’t I feel anything now?”

“……What?”

Belropai’s blue eyes crinkled as they looked at Bercheria.

“Has all your power disappeared?”

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
