Bercheria, my beloved daughter.
Do you know that you are the most special child in the world?
When you smile, the warm sunlight shines even in midwinter, making life bloom, and a sugarlike sweetness springs in the fruit.
Then the people outside will scream with joy.
But when you cry, the rain falls for a very long time.
The frozen ground loses its life and rots away.
Then tears of blood flow from the eyes of those who have to watch it.
Bercheria, you are a child of a god who can make people happy or unhappy, and can kill them all according to your mood.
So remember. You must never come face to face with any human.
There is no one in the world who does not hate our Bercheria.

Now, look at the dark tower I made for our Bercheria.
This place is sacred, where no one can enter or leave, and only you exist.
Look, isn’t it beautiful?
If the driedup bread I gave you tastes bad, imagine the delicious juice you gave to humans.
You must not think badly.
You are a child who must be happy.
My beloved daughter, Bercheria.
Even if this mother scolds you, oppresses you, and wields a switch, understand.
It all happens because I love you so much.
I can’t help it to protect you from humans who hate you.

Now, smile, my Bercheria.
As long as this mother breathes, the dark tower and dry bread will be with you.
Let’s live happily without any worries.
My daughter, Bercheria.
I love you so, so much.
Forever.
[Star Icon]Periat Empire.
In the harsh north, where fleshfreezing winds blow, and especially in the northernmost borderland, there stood a tall tower shrouded in fog.
This strangely shaped tower, without even a passage, was known to be inhabited by the weather goddess Bercheria long ago.

No one could enter, and once in, no one could come out of this cursed tower.
Just as the sun was setting, the slanting rays of light struck a woman hanging halfway up the tower.
“Haah, Haah.”
The appearance of her hanging by a thin rope looked perilously close to falling.
As the dusty dry wind blew, her abundant blonde hair puffed up, then settled over her small body.
The woman, with seemingly fragile hands, tightly gripped the rope, catching her breath several times.
Raising her trembling head, she looked up at the top of the tower, far and distant.
The woman, with golden eyes shining, began to move her arms to descend.
Not long after, darkness swallowed the whole forest, making it impossible to see even an inch ahead.
Much later.

The rope that had been clinging to one side of the lone tower swayed like a snake.
And then, at one moment.
Whirl!
The rope, cut from the top, plummeted down terrifyingly.
The tall tower, shrouded in fog, embraced only a quiet stillness as if nothing had ever happened.
[Star Icon]Crossing the library, the butler Timothy put down a steaming cup of tea on a large mahogany desk.
“I’m really worried, not just a little. We might all die like this.”
“Hmm.”
Lakrahan turned the page with long fingers and crossed his arms with an indifferent face.

“It’s scary to go down to the village these days. It hurts so much to look. Ah. I really long for Bercheria’s presence at times like this.”
The dry wind blew through the window, leaving white dust on the glass, then disappeared.
Timothy’s face, looking at that landscape, was full of concern.
“It’s been over three months since it rained. I don’t know how many more people have to die before this drought ends. If this isn’t Bercheria’s curse, what else could it be?”
Although the north was winter all year round, snow and rain fell at regular intervals, so crops like sweet potatoes or garlic that were grown were all very sweet and solid.
They maintained their abundance by bartering the crops they had grown near the border region or regularly supplying them to the capital.
It was not only the North.
Originally, the Feriat Empire was a fertile land under the protection of Bercheria, the goddess of weather.
But at some point, the energy of protection seemed to evaporate, and only a bonechilling harsh winter came.
People thought it was a sabbatical year of the gods that came around once every hundred years.
But a year passed, and another year passed, and the protection of Bercheria did not return.

From then on, the North became unpredictable land, tormented by abnormal temperatures.
They didn’t know when what weather would strike, so they couldn’t grow crops, and even the animals left, unable to withstand the volatile weather.
If Lakrahan hadn’t moved his domain here about 10 years ago, people would have either abandoned the North or starved to death in the North.
“Bercheria doesn’t even deserve to be called a god.”
Thud.
A thick book that was open snapped shut.
“Even the abandoned humans don’t wait for God.”
Unwavering black eyes clearly gazed at Timothy.
Orderly eyebrows, scattered ebony hair, sharp eyes. Lips that looked infinitely soft compared to the high nose bridge.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
