In the second month of Rihalt, Heidi Rabendaim Sor Febenheim’s reason for falling for Dion Cedric was truly trivial.

“I’ll finish the accounts by this week and report to my lord. Is there anything else you’d like me to do?”

“I never ordered you to, and it wasn’t your duty to begin with, Dion.”

“My duty is to serve both Your Highness and my lord.”

Before Heidi, whose eyes were bloodshot from exhaustion, Dion set down a warm cup of hibiscus tea. Then, taking an armful of towering documents in his stead, he turned and left the room.

Heidi watched Dion’s retreating back—occasionally stumbling under the weight of the papers—until he vanished completely. The familiar scent of her favorite tea teased her nose and heart.

Since then, Heidi had encountered countless turning points. Though the trigger may have been minor, its consequence was immense.

Dion Cedric’s thoughtfulness was always so meticulous and unconsciously momentous.

“Is there really anything likable about him?”

Even when Ian suddenly posed this biting question one day, Heidi answered honestly.

“He barks, but it’s cute.”

For nearly five years, she’d watched Dion from the windowsill as if tending to flowerbeds. And it had been half a year since her accidental confession had left them in an ambiguous, unresolved relationship.

Heidi couldn’t tell what she truly meant to him.

Dion remained as he always was, and Heidi, too, continued feigning composure as usual.

Seated like a portrait hanging on the wall, Heidi observed the conversation between Ian and the knights who had just returned. No matter how hard she tried to look away, her eyes kept drifting toward that fresh-green, sprout-like hair.
