Even if Your Regret Holds Me Back (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 87
The sound of footsteps walking beside me continued until we passed Flam’s forge and reached the pump. The shadow-tail that had begun three days ago seemed ready to reach its climax today.
Thus, Helena stubbornly refused his help even as she struggled to carry the bucket filled to the brim with water. Unavoidably, her pace slowed, and occasional groans of exertion slipped out.
Ian cast a narrowed glance at her, who moved like a tortoise.
“If you keep pushing people away like that, even those who stay will eventually leave.”
“Good. I’d appreciate it if you’d be the first to go.”
“Hmm, I was actually thinking of leaving soon anyway.”
For a moment, Helena stopped walking. Due to inertia, some water spilled over the rim of the bucket.
The cold splash on her feet jolted Helena back to her senses. The overflowing water felt just like her own heart, suddenly rippling.
‘Am I really so affected by just a few words that my body reacts before my mind…?’
Helena looked up at Ian. His ever-steady, striking features filled her view at once. As if he’d been waiting, he tried to meet her eyes directly. Helena quickly turned her head away and hurried her steps again.
“Do you even realize how vastly different your face and your words are?”
“Since when have you cared so much about me? I’m delighted.”
“I suppose you don’t think you’re a liar, then.”
“Well, if that’s how you see it, I guess I’ll just have to admit it.”
Her arms ached so badly that Helena set the bucket down for a moment. Ian bent his waist and snatched the handle before she could react.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
