As they were walking, a four-wheeled carriage passed by them. Ian quickly pulled Helena behind him to shield her.

Mud splashed as the carriage’s wheels hit a puddle.

“Be careful.”

He looked her up and down, brushing off a fallen leaf stuck to the paper bag.

Before she could lament the brief loss of his warmth, their hands found each other again.

The touch was just a palm’s surface, yet inexplicably, her whole body felt warm.

Helena, watching the darkened beige of her shoes turning to deep brown, murmured softly.

“I think… I’m already a bit soaked.”

And that worried her.

If she couldn’t let go of him now, she didn’t know what she’d do in the future.

Eugene, settling into the hotel he had decided to stay at for a while, loosened the tie strangling his neck.

It had been an exhausting day, and the thought of not knowing how many more days like this awaited him was even more draining.

He threw his jacket onto the sofa and flopped down onto the bed.

Lying motionless with his eyes closed, Eugene finally stirred when the communicator on the bedside table buzzed.

The number of people he had given a communicator to before leaving the mansion, anticipating urgent matters, was limited.
Especially at this hour, there was only one person who would contact him, so Eugene connected the call without even bothering to open his eyes.

“What is it?”

On the screen that flickered to life, Natasha, with her honey-blond hair cascading down in pure simplicity, stiffened slightly.

Caught off guard by Eugene’s unexpected appearance, she soon filled her face with a shy smile.

“Just… I wanted to see you, Your Grace.”

Her cheeks started to turn a rosy hue, a vision of loveliness like sweet spring flowers.

Yet, the man she wished to show herself to wasn’t even looking at the screen.

“If it’s nothing important, try to refrain from contacting me in the future, Natasha.”

Eugene’s tone was dry and sharp.

Natasha’s flushed face gradually returned to its original color. All she could see was the side profile of Eugene, lying down with his eyes closed.

She knew why he was acting like this. Lately, there was only one person who could make him this disheartened.

Natasha took a moment to steady her breathing.

The question she was about to ask might bring an unknown answer, but it was something she would have eventually asked.

“Can’t you forget her, ma’am?”

A faint wrinkle formed on Eugene’s forehead, accompanied by a slight grunt of displeasure. He was annoyed that just one question had unearthed the thoughts he had tried so hard to bury.

…Or perhaps, something else.

Nonetheless, Natasha was content to have finally captured his gaze. Eugene opened his eyes and sat up to look at her.

“Natasha.”

For the first time, he looked a bit angry. His tone reflected that.

“I let you into the mansion because you promised not to overstep your bounds.”

“……Your Grace.”

“I don’t care if you fill your room with jewels or have servants kneel at your feet.”

Eugene’s gaze turned icy.

“Just don’t covet Helena’s place.”

Natasha was speechless for a moment. The corners of her eyes began to redden sorrowfully.

With a face that could wrench the hearts of all men, she murmured softly.

“I know that. I just… I was just worried about you, Your Grace.”

Natasha shrank back, fragile as a breakable glass doll. Eugene’s sternness softened slightly.

“If that’s the case, you should have been more careful with your words.”

“But Your Grace,”

“Do you still have something to say?”

Eugene sighed dryly and turned his head away from her. He leaned forward, resting his arms on his knees, clearly exhausted.

But Natasha did not back down.

“Even if you say so, Your Grace, I know. The love you gave me wasn’t all fake.”

“You seem to misunderstand my words now, so what do you know?”

“I’ve always understood you, Your Grace. That night, surely-.”

“Enough.”

At the mention of ‘that night’, Eugene visibly frowned, cutting off the conversation as if he had been exposed.

His breathing deepened with emotion.

This time, Natasha also retreated a step.

“I apologize. Please rest, Your Grace.”

She left a quiet farewell, and the screen went dark.

Male lead is a clingy little husband

One-line summary: The male lead is initially an arrogant, noble, love-deprived brat, later a cute, clingy, scheming little jealous one.

Introduction:

One day, Lu Yuner’s soul transmigrates into a female-dominant world. She enters the Imperial Academy and takes up the position of a doctoral instructor, teaching classes and grading schoolwork.

One day, she encounters the young prince Su Qingwan secretly skipping class from the male academy.

As a result, Su Qingwan is punished.

From then on, Su Qingwan sees Lu Yuner as a “thorn in his side”.

But before long, this “thorn” becomes the person he cherishes most, and he goes to great lengths to win Lu Yuner’s affection.

Mini scene 1:

One day, the sun is high in the sky but Su Qingwan still hasn’t gotten up for class.

Servant Xiaoyuan: “Young prince, it’s time for class. You’ll be late otherwise.”

Su Qingwan says arrogantly: “I’m not going. I am the esteemed prince, my status is so noble, why should I suffer this hardship? Besides, isn’t learning all this just to please women? Hmph, they’re not worthy!”

Mini scene 2:

After Su Qingwan falls for someone, he completely changes. He no longer skips class and diligently learns how to be a good husband and father. But he discovers that Sister Yuner is always surrounded by admirers.

Drunk and overcome with jealousy one day, he clings to Lu Yuner, crying beautifully like a pear blossom in the rain.

Su Qingwan: “Qingwan likes Sister Yuner.”

Lu Yuner: “Young prince, you’re drunk.”

Su Qingwan: “Qingwan isn’t drunk. Qingwan likes Sister Yuner, likes you so much, likes you to bits…” Before he can finish, Lu Yuner’s eyes flash with emotion and she leans in closer.

[Reading Guide]

1. The female lead is gentle, gracious, humble and polite but not weak. The male lead is initially an arrogant, noble, love-deprived brat, later a cute, clingy, scheming little jealous one.

2. 1v1, a bit torturous in the beginning but definitely sweet later on.
