Desperately staring death in the face was oddly incongruous with her desperate eyes.

The man faltered, sensing an aura he couldn’t handle.

“What, what’s wrong with you…!”

The strength began to drain from the arm holding Helena. She could have easily been released, but she didn’t let go.

“Just stay here. Try to kill me, please.”

Helena grabbed the man’s arm, pressing it harder against her throat. As the situation took an unexpected turn, the terrified man tried to step back.

But before he could even move…

Bang!

The man’s upper body was suddenly flung onto a nearby fruit stand.

“Ah!”

He groaned, flailing his arms as fruit boxes crumbled under him. Fruits spilled and squashed everywhere.

Ian was pressing down on the man’s throat, just as the man had done to Helena.

Every time the man weakly resisted, Ian pressed down harder, amplifying his groans.

“Ah, ah, ah! Who are you?!”
Helena realized every moment that parting ways didn’t necessarily mean the end.

After all, if a mere sentence could erase 20 years of marriage, she wouldn’t have reached this point.

She stared at the quince and then put it back in place.

Suddenly, a man roughly grabbed her wrist.

“You messed up the fruit and now you’re trying to leave? Either pay up or don’t touch them at all!”

The man, apparently the fruit vendor, was aggressive. As Helena rummaged through her bag, it was clear she had no change.

The man watched her quietly, then a mischievous smile spread across his face.

“What, no money? What will you do now, miss? But if you just talk with me for a bit, I can give it to you for free.”

His thumb slid sleazily over her wrist, the sensation of his rough skin scraping against her was dreadful.

Helena abruptly jerked her arm away, but in doing so, she accidentally struck the man’s jaw.

His face quickly turned red with anger. An old woman nearby, helplessly anxious, pleaded with Helena.

“Miss, it’s no good to provoke him. Just apologize and get out of here.”

But Helena didn’t budge. Instead, she stood her ground, seemingly puzzled.

Why should I? What’s the point in apologizing? Do I need to defuse this situation?

Because.

“Why be afraid… It’s unfair, right?”

Her murmured words of defiance finally made the man explode in anger. He lunged at her and grabbed her throat.

“Are you mocking me? You want to die?!”

Pressed against the wall and choked, Helena’s face reddened.

However, in stark contrast, her blue eyes remained calm.

They were numb, like a deep, still ocean.

“Can you kill me?”

“What?”

“Do you want me to die? So, can you, kill me?”

Helena gasped out the words despite her lack of air.

The man faltered, realizing the situation was beyond his control.

“What, what’s wrong with you…!”

His grip on Helena weakened. She could have been released easily, but she held on.

“Just stay here. Try to kill me, please.”

Helena clutched the man’s arm, pressing it harder against her own throat. As the situation spiraled unexpectedly, the frightened man tried to back away.

But before he could move…

Bang!

The man’s upper body was flung onto a nearby fruit stand.

“Ah!”

He groaned, flailing his arms as fruit boxes crumbled under him. Fruits spilled and squashed everywhere.

Ian was pressing down on the man’s throat, just as the man had done to Helena.

As the man weakly resisted, Ian pressed down harder, intensifying his groans.

“Ah, ah, ah! Who are you?!”
Numerous questions arose in her mind, but Helena chose not to voice them. It was clear that no one could provide answers even if she asked.

She shifted her gaze from the man’s back to her hand. It was empty. Apparently, he had discarded the carefully packed food and rushed over. For some reason, she felt suffocated.

Male lead is a clingy little husband

One-line summary: The male lead is initially an arrogant, noble, love-deprived brat, later a cute, clingy, scheming little jealous one.

Introduction:

One day, Lu Yuner’s soul transmigrates into a female-dominant world. She enters the Imperial Academy and takes up the position of a doctoral instructor, teaching classes and grading schoolwork.

One day, she encounters the young prince Su Qingwan secretly skipping class from the male academy.

As a result, Su Qingwan is punished.

From then on, Su Qingwan sees Lu Yuner as a “thorn in his side”.

But before long, this “thorn” becomes the person he cherishes most, and he goes to great lengths to win Lu Yuner’s affection.

Mini scene 1:

One day, the sun is high in the sky but Su Qingwan still hasn’t gotten up for class.

Servant Xiaoyuan: “Young prince, it’s time for class. You’ll be late otherwise.”

Su Qingwan says arrogantly: “I’m not going. I am the esteemed prince, my status is so noble, why should I suffer this hardship? Besides, isn’t learning all this just to please women? Hmph, they’re not worthy!”

Mini scene 2:

After Su Qingwan falls for someone, he completely changes. He no longer skips class and diligently learns how to be a good husband and father. But he discovers that Sister Yuner is always surrounded by admirers.

Drunk and overcome with jealousy one day, he clings to Lu Yuner, crying beautifully like a pear blossom in the rain.

Su Qingwan: “Qingwan likes Sister Yuner.”

Lu Yuner: “Young prince, you’re drunk.”

Su Qingwan: “Qingwan isn’t drunk. Qingwan likes Sister Yuner, likes you so much, likes you to bits…” Before he can finish, Lu Yuner’s eyes flash with emotion and she leans in closer.

[Reading Guide]

1. The female lead is gentle, gracious, humble and polite but not weak. The male lead is initially an arrogant, noble, love-deprived brat, later a cute, clingy, scheming little jealous one.

2. 1v1, a bit torturous in the beginning but definitely sweet later on.
