Ensnared by the Trap (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 12
Kyle was completely still, feeling every even breath Se Hee took, maintaining his rigid posture without a single twitch.
He wasn’t even aware of how uncomfortable that position was.
Intoxicated by the sweet scent drifting from Se Hee, Kyle had forgotten the passage of time entirely.
He simply gazed lazily at the vast sea beyond the window.
The spot Se Hee had sensitively stimulated while half-asleep still burned, but he restrained his emotions as much as possible.
Suddenly, Dave’s voice came from outside the door—he must have been waiting for who knows how long.
“President. It’s gotten very late.”
Dave’s voice, thick with worry, dragged Kyle’s dreamy mood straight back into reality.
Kyle’s brow furrowed at the ruined moment.
He deliberately didn’t answer.
“…May I come in?”
When there was no reply from inside, Dave asked again.
Even at the second question, Kyle remained silent.
Unable to receive permission, Dave had no choice but to wait outside the closed door until dawn broke.
* * *
The faint sound of the doorbell reached her ears.
Se Hee briefly opened her eyes at the weak noise, but her heavy eyelids were too much to fight, so she didn’t bother opening them again.
In her hazy memory, the doorbell rang a few more times before falling silent.
When Se Hee finally woke up again, evening had long since passed.
“Ughhh.”
It wasn’t a sharp, stabbing headache, but the heavy pressure weighing down her head was painful all the same.
Her body wouldn’t move properly.
Her entire body felt like water-soaked cotton—limp and heavy, making even twitching a finger difficult.
At least she was relieved to realize she was in room 1305, her own cabin.
Still wearing the dress from yesterday.
Racking her short memory, she remembered everything going black after two glasses of vodka.
Did she just pass out like that?
Nothing bad happened, right?
She tried hard to recall the previous night, but nothing came to mind.
She really shouldn’t have drunk vodka.
It was an accident caused by pointless bravado.
What if she had done something huge that she couldn’t remember?
Yeah—if that had happened, that sensitive man wouldn’t have quietly sent her back like this.
No, he probably would have freaked out and thrown her into the room.
Since nothing came back clearly, Se Hee grew extremely worried about the night before.
Ah… seriously. Do I have to go ask him directly?
Just imagining Kyle’s cold face made her cheeks burn with embarrassment.
First, let’s wash up.
Se Hee dragged her heavy body toward the shower.
After washing, she finally felt a bit refreshed.
But it did nothing for her upset stomach.
There was no way she could get hangover soup on a place like this.
Thinking she should at least eat something, Se Hee changed into light clothes.
Just then, the doorbell to her cabin rang.
She instantly froze.
No way?
“W-who is it?”
Se Hee cautiously checked who was outside.
“Se Hee? Are you in the room?”
It was Sung Jae’s voice.

Letting out a small sigh of relief, Se Hee slowly opened the door.
Sung Jae and Jung Yeon stood there, dressed like they had just returned from an outing.
“Oh my god. Are you sick?”
Jung Yeon asked in surprise at Se Hee’s haggard appearance.
“W-well… I think I drank too much.”
Se Hee smiled awkwardly.
“No wonder you weren’t at the restaurant this morning and didn’t seem to join the port tour. Looks like you’ve been in your room the whole time. Here, drink this at least.”
Jung Yeon spoke worriedly and handed over the drink she was holding.
“Right. I brought some porridge too. You just need to add hot water. I’ll prepare it right away. Jung Yeon, take care of Se Hee for a bit.”
Sung Jae remembered the food he had brought and said to Jung Yeon.
“No, it’s okay. I’m fine. I can just go out and eat stew or something.”
Feeling sorry, Se Hee waved her hands and stopped them.
“I have cup noodles too. Hangover ramen is surprisingly good. I’ll bring something spicy. Wait here.”
Sung Jae winked cheerfully as if it were no big deal and quickly disappeared.
Se Hee couldn’t bring herself to refuse their concern any longer.
“In a foreign land—or rather, on the sea—we Koreans have to help each other out. And you really don’t look good, Se Hee.”
Jung Yeon said seriously to Se Hee, whose face was full of apology.
“I’m sorry for worrying you. Would you like to come in?”
Se Hee cupped her cheeks with both hands and stepped inside.
“Thank you. Wow! This must be a suite with a balcony. It’s different from my room. I have a balcony room too, but yours is much bigger and nicer.”
Jung Yeon stepped out onto the balcony and admired the night view.
“Really? Having a balcony is really nice. I’ve been enjoying the Mediterranean view to the fullest.”
Se Hee said while tidying the messy bedding.
“But did you drink alone?”
Jung Yeon came back inside and asked meaningfully.
“Ah… well. It wasn’t that much. I’m just weak with alcohol.”
Se Hee gave an evasive answer to Jung Yeon’s question and smiled awkwardly.
* * *
Sung Jae, having carefully prepared ramen and porridge, filled a thermos with hot water and headed to Se Hee’s room.
He felt regretful that he could have taken care of her earlier if he had come in the morning, since she had been down all day.
He was proud of himself for having the foresight to bring porridge.
As he hurried back, Sung Jae spotted a man standing in front of Se Hee’s door.
Sung Jae wasn’t someone who usually lost in physical presence.
Yet seeing the man’s broad shoulders made Sung Jae unconsciously tense his own.
“What’s your business?”
At Sung Jae’s question, the man turned and looked at him.
It was that guy.
The man who had sent a murderous glare before entering the restaurant with Se Hee.
Just looking into his eyes made Sung Jae feel intimidated.
Even as a man, Sung Jae had to admit the guy was perfectly handsome.
And he naturally exuded the aura of an absolute top predator.
Sung Jae instinctively sensed danger.
“W-what is it?”
Sung Jae asked sharply, his nerves on edge.
The man didn’t even bother to respond, as if it were troublesome.
He simply stepped back one pace so Sung Jae could pass.
He clearly had business in this room.
Sung Jae raised his hand uncomfortably toward the doorbell.
“Wait.”
Only then did the man speak.

“What business do you have here?”
The man’s voice was just as overbearing as his eyes.
Their sharp gazes clashed.
“My girlfriend is in this room?”
Sung Jae raised one eyebrow as if telling the man to back off on his own.
I, Ban Sung Jae, am not someone who gets intimidated easily.
The card Sung Jae pulled to overpower the man in one go was “girlfriend.”
It was a bit of a stretch, but he figured he needed to play at least this strong a hand to have a chance.
“So?”
Yet the man arrogantly shot back.
The way he slightly lifted his chin even carried dignity.
Though tension was reaching its limit, Sung Jae didn’t back down.
“So please step aside.”
“I left some clothes I wore in this room.”
But the man’s next words shattered the firm expression Sung Jae had barely been holding.
With a sneering laugh, the man confidently pressed the cabin doorbell first.
“Sung Jae?”
It was Jung Yeon who came out.
“Ah… girlfriend, huh.”
At the man’s sarcastic remark, Sung Jae felt like he had been properly punched.
“Sung Jae. Who… is this person?”
Jung Yeon was openly admiring him.
Among all of God’s creations, was there ever another creature this perfect?
“Not really curious? If you are, ask him yourself.”
Sung Jae replied in a bad mood.
He then tried to push past Kyle roughly and enter.
But Kyle didn’t budge an inch, and Sung Jae was flustered once again.
He had already acknowledged the superior physique, but to be overpowered in strength too.
Sung Jae’s irritation surged even higher.
Amid the invisible battle between the men, the real owner of the room finally appeared.
“Graham?”
“Are you feeling alright? I sent room service three times, but it seems none of it was received.”
Kyle’s low voice clearly revealed his sour mood.
“Ah… so that doorbell was room service. I couldn’t get up. I’m a bit better now.”
Se Hee smiled weakly, looking exhausted.
To think she could look this worn out after just one night.
He had purposely ordered room service for her early in the morning before heading to the port meeting, yet the report he received upon return said it had never been delivered.
Kyle had come straight to Se Hee without even stopping by his office.
Yet there were unexpected guests.
“Se Hee isn’t feeling well right now. Come back later.”
At Kyle’s natural Korean, Sung Jae momentarily flinched before responding prickly in Korean and stepping between them.
But Kyle didn’t even glance at Sung Jae.
“Let’s go out.”
He spoke past Sung Jae to Se Hee standing behind.
“Hey, didn’t you hear me? I thought you understood Korean since you spoke it, guess not?”
Sung Jae glared at Kyle provocatively.
“I said Se Hee isn’t well and needs to eat porridge. Understand now?”
Sung Jae stared straight at Kyle and emphasized in perfect English.
“You seem unaware of cruise ship regulations, but bringing outside food on board is not allowed.”
Kyle’s cool, low voice pierced Sung Jae’s ears without a single waver despite the aggressive provocation.

A voice dripping with arrogance.
The atmosphere was growing increasingly chilly.
“That place from yesterday. Ten minutes.”
After issuing the command-like words, Kyle turned away.
But no one could stop him.
All three of them blankly watched Kyle’s retreating back.
“Wow. What’s with that overwhelming charisma?”
Jung Yeon rubbed her arms as if getting goosebumps.
“I’ve never really lost to anyone before.”
Sung Jae couldn’t quite bring himself to say he had been the one pushed back.
“I’m sorry. This is because of me.”
Se Hee said with an awkward expression.
“Why are you apologizing, Se Hee? Come inside. Eat this first. And just ignore him. Do we have to go just because he says so?”
Sung Jae snorted.
“Yeah… the vibe says we probably should go.”
Jung Yeon answered Sung Jae seriously.
“Why? What is it? Is he Se Hee’s boyfriend or something? Right? You two aren’t anything, are you?”
Sung Jae asked Se Hee as if he needed confirmation.
“Huh? Yeah.”
Se Hee nodded reluctantly.
“Then just ignore him. Whether he waits or not.”
Sung Jae folded his arms and shook his head.
“Um… but I think I should go. I’m sorry.”
Se Hee said cautiously, watching Sung Jae’s reaction.
“Why?”
Sung Jae glared.
“He’s helped me a lot.”
“That arrogant jerk helped you?”
Sung Jae’s voice rose as if it were ridiculous.
“Ban Sung Jae. Why are you acting like this? This is Se Hee’s decision. Are you her dad or something? Why are you making such a fuss?”
Jung Yeon scolded Sung Jae.
“Hey, Jin Jung Yeon, out of all the words in the world, why ‘dad’? Oppa, lover, boyfriend, husband—there are so many options.”
Sung Jae shot back at Jung Yeon incredulously.
“Hmm… because you’re acting exactly like a dad. Let’s just go. Ten minutes will pass quickly. If she doesn’t go, something bad might happen.”
Jung Yeon tugged at Sung Jae’s arm.
“You’re really sending Se Hee to a guy like that? What if something happens to her?”
“See, see? Total dad mindset, right?”
Jung Yeon clicked her tongue at Sung Jae.
“Se Hee is an adult. And from the looks of it, she was with that guy last night too. The choice is hers. Get up while I’m asking nicely. Stop being dramatic.”
Jung Yeon warned sharply.
“Sigh. Se Hee… you’ll really be okay?”
Sung Jae stood up as if he had no choice, his face desperately hoping Se Hee would stop him.
“…Yeah. I’ll be fine.”
But Se Hee didn’t give the answer Sung Jae wanted.
“If anything happens, call me. I’ll be on one-minute standby—no, five-second standby.”
Still uneasy, Sung Jae wrote down his contact info and handed it to Se Hee.

Pushed out by Jung Yeon, Sung Jae walked reluctantly slowly.
“Somehow he doesn’t feel unfamiliar.”
Jung Yeon tilted her head as they walked together.

“You too? That annoying vibe doesn’t feel unfamiliar.”
Feeling the same as Jung Yeon deepened Sung Jae’s suspicion of the man.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
