Moved by their tearful eyes, Diana stepped closer—but one boy suddenly glared at her with hostility.

“You wicked woman!”

The unexpected insult cast a heavy silence over the scene. The abbess, startled, tried to cover the boy’s mouth, but it was futile.

The child twisted violently like a seizure and bit down hard on the nun’s hand.

“Why did you send my father into the gorge! If you wanted to go so badly, you should’ve gone yourself!”
