“Where is Her Highness?”

Frost’s expression hardened as he slowly lowered his head.

Before him, Knight-Captain Angelus knelt with his eyes downcast, unable to meet his lord’s gaze.

“The mansion was attacked. We checked Her Highness Lady Yi’s chamber and receiving room first… but she wasn’t there. It seems… she went out.”

Frost’s gaze settled on Leo’s forearm, slashed by a blade.

“‘It seems’? So you didn’t actually see her leave?”

His untempered, sharp aura bit into the flesh of the large knight kneeling before him, yet he didn’t miss the blood dripping steadily from his subordinate’s untreated wound.

“I ordered you never to take your eyes off Her Highness—not even for a single moment. How long has it been since the carriage was ambushed?”

Leo slammed his forehead hard against the floor. Knowing full well how superhumanly his lord was suppressing his rage, he dared not lift his face.

“I’m sorry, Your Highness…!”

Head Maid Rosalynne rushed over to speak in Leo’s defense.

“It’s not Captain Leo’s fault. It’s my fault.”

Her usually immaculate hair was now disheveled, and her hands—burned while rescuing servants from the flames—were covered in blisters. Her dress, partly charred in places, revealed just how desperate the situation had been.

“I confirmed she’d gone to rest due to a cold, so I left briefly to prepare some medicinal tea I thought might help her…”

Frost clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles stood out.
