“Just give me five minutes. I just need to be alone with Idrish.”

“What is this about?”

“That… I can’t explain it. It’s really, really important.”

“Then I cannot allow it.”

I bit softly on the tender flesh inside my mouth.

“Fine. Then right here—but everyone has to turn around and not look.”

Ternya stared at me intently, as if trying to decipher my intentions. But in the end, he couldn’t figure it out.

“Very well. Exactly five minutes.”

As I’d said, Ternya and his knights surrounded us but turned their backs.

“What are you trying to do?”

Even Idrish seemed puzzled by my actions.

After making sure everyone had turned away, I strode quickly toward Idrish and thrust my hand straight into his clothes. Idrish must have finally understood my intent—he bent his waist slightly to lower his height, making it easier for me to reach.

“People will think we’re strange—touching each other’s chests at a farewell moment like this.”

Idrish whispered into my ear with a chuckle. But I couldn’t laugh. My heart was pounding too fast. After all, Idrish was plotting something far bigger than he could possibly imagine.

With my free hand, I reached out and grabbed Idrish by the collar. His face came abruptly close. My reflection filled his golden eyes.
