“You thought I’d just give up like that? Absolutely not.”

I rubbed my sleepy eyes open, even more determined than yesterday.

I stayed up late last night endlessly replaying my conversation with Tesmilion. Because of that, I overslept and missed the time he usually leaves his bedroom. But it didn’t matter—by now, I knew Tesmilion’s morning routine like the back of my hand.

“He must be in the garden by now, right?”

I walked through the unlit corridors of the mansion toward the garden.

But the spot where I always saw his back was empty. I brushed my hand over the vacant bench.

“That’s strange. He’s never broken his routine before.”

Curious, I headed to the study. After all, there were only three places Tesmilion ever went.

The study door was firmly shut, but a bright light seeped through the crack. He must be in there, as expected.

But what should I do? He’ll probably dislike it if I go in…

Still, after shouting at him like that yesterday, barging in so recklessly today might make him hate me even more.

Just as I hesitated whether to knock or not, I finally steeled myself and raised my hand—

“Come in.”

What? It’s as if he’d been watching me the whole time. Surely there’s no CCTV installed here, right?

I glanced around pointlessly, then pushed the door open with a nervous heart. It was the first time I’d entered since that day Rodrio was badly injured and I’d been summoned.
