“Yeah.”

I wanted to give a longer reply, but tears choked my throat. Instead, I yanked Idrish’s waist toward me and buried my face in his chest.

Idrish’s warm body heat, his familiar scent, and the slightly quickened beat of his heart.

Everything was perfect.

Idrish gently stroked the back of my head. I lifted my gaze to look at his face, slowly taking in his eyes, nose, and lips—as if carefully observing how especially handsome he looked today.

“Idrish, by the way.”

“Yeah?”

“Do you know what Cecilia whispered to me earlier?”

“Dunno.”

I gestured for him to lower his head closer. Idrish bent forward, and I brought my lips to his ear just as Cecilia had done to me.

Though, admittedly, I was even closer than she had been.

My playful mood kicked in, so right before speaking, I deliberately blew a teasing puff of breath against his ear. Idrish flinched. I stifled a laugh, then straightened my expression and told him to lean his ear closer again. Then I whispered softly:

“The Idrish curse weakens the more love you share.”

I pulled back and giggled.
