Swinging his sword, Idrish stopped dead in his tracks when he saw me. His white shirt and hair were drenched in sweat.
I ran at him, and Idrish staggered back as he saw me approaching at terrifying speed.
I barely hit the brakes in front of him. My body came to a halt, and I bent over to catch my breath.
“He, heh, hek. Idrish, hek.”
“What?”
“Rodrio, heugh, woke up! He opened his eyes!”
At my words, Idrish grabbed my shoulder and lifted me up. The world was spinning, so I couldn’t see what expression he was making.
“Really?”
“It’s really true!”
I grinned widely. Tears flowed freely from my eyes.

“Let’s go quickly.”
I tightly grasped Idrish’s hand, and we ran back to Rodrio’s room.
When Idrish and I reappeared, Rodrio was trying to sit up.
“Where are you going! Lie back down. It’s still too early. Your wounds haven’t healed at all.”
At my words, Rodrio did lie back down, but he slyly looked at Idrish. Idrish stood tall, staring down at Rodrio, a reaction entirely different from mine a moment ago.
“So, you really woke up. Do you remember that day?”
He spoke with indifference, as if it was someone else’s business. At Idrish’s question, Rodrio bit his lip hard.
“Yes, Idrish. Sorry for not listening and going into the forest at night.”
“You don’t need to be sorry. The life nearly lost was yours, not mine.”
Oh, the nerve!

“Yes…….”
Look at that. Must you drain the energy from a child who just woke up?
“So what do you remember?”
“I don’t know. I saw strange lights in the garden and just wanted to check what they were……”
“And then?”
Rodrio gripped both hands until they were pale. He seemed scared to recall that moment.
“The moment I stepped outside the mansion, someone covered my mouth and eyes. They kept dragging me……”
Though fear was evident, Rodrio stutteringly recounted what he remembered. However, there was no content that could identify the culprit.
“Then my waist felt like it was on fire. My vision, it went white……”
“That’s enough. There’s not a single useful piece of information.”

Rodrio’s head hung low.
Though it shouldn’t have affected me, I glared at Idrish. Do you really have to be so cruel to a child who just barely survived?
“Still, you woke up well despite such deep wounds. You truly are an Atigrado.”
Despite Idrish’s cold and graceless words, Rodrio looked pleased.
“Yes, I am Rodrio Atigrado…… This kind of wound is nothing.”
“But be sure to behave so that this doesn’t happen again.”
“Uh, yes……!”
Rodrio quickly nodded, then winced as if in pain. His gaze then met mine. The fear that had been on his face moments ago quickly changed to curiosity.
“Is it really the Hedgehog Demon King?”
He seemed not to believe that I was that hedgehog. Gosh, has he been deceived all this time?

“Yes, it is. Want me to show you how I transform?”
I quickly transformed into a hedgehog. Rodrio’s lifeless eyes sparkled for that moment. I rubbed my pointy nose against Rodrio’s hand.
Don’t worry about being in pain. I can show you the hedgehog transformation every day, kid.
“Wow, Idrish was right. The Hedgehog Demon King was a beastman. But the Hedgehog Demon King is a woman?”
Rodrio exclaimed as I changed back into a human.
“Did you think I was a man all this time?”
“Of course……. The Hedgehog Demon King has awesome skills.”
“Women can have cool skills too.”
“I see…….”
Rodrio’s voice trailed off. He still seemed tired and blinked his eyes again.

I smiled emptily and brushed back Rodrio’s sweaty hair.
“Sleep a little more. When you wake up, I’ll show you more amazing magic.”
“Yes……. More amazing magic.”
I watched the quickly quieted Rodrio for a while and turned my head. My eyes met Idrish’s.
I couldn’t tell how long he had been looking at me with those eyes.
“He, why are you looking at me like that?”
I awkwardly tilted my head.
“I’ve never seen you.”
Idrish bluntly left the room.
“Tsk, as if you haven’t seen me. And Rodrio almost died but survived. Wouldn’t it be nice to pat him on the back once? Poor Rodrio.”
Instead of Idrish, I gently stroked his soft cheek over and over.

(This is a time separator.)
Rodrio gradually regained his strength. Now that the urgent issue had been resolved, I finally realized how my position had changed.
“Ah, it’s so good.”
I rolled around on the wide bed. My own bed without the likes of Idrish, and my own room.
I had to have quite a long argument with Idrish to get this room, but I finally won it!
Idrish still wanted to confine me to his room.
〈Stay in my room from now on.〉
〈No, I won’t run away now, okay?〉
〈Who says they’re going to run away in advance?〉
〈Sigh, were you really fooled? Anyway, if you behave like this, Idrish, I’ll only be passive in breaking the curse. Well, if that’s what you want.〉

I crossed my arms as if I had no regrets.
That’s right! Things were different from before. Idrish needed me, and I didn’t need him!
Of course, Idrish could confine me and try to find a way, but it would have been uncomfortable and inefficient in many ways.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
