A gust of wind carried the dirt to where we were.
“Ugh.”
Even though Idrish wrapped my head, my ears felt numb. Perhaps Idrish took the shock entirely.
However, the man didn’t stop his attack with just that. He put his hand back into his chest as if trying to take out another bomb.
But Idrish was faster. Transformed into a tiger, Idrish ran towards the man in a few steps, bit his head with his large mouth, and then threw him.
“Grrr!”
The bomb the man hadn’t let go of exploded in the air along with the man.
Boom!
“Ahh!”
I sat down in place, covering my ears.
This wasn’t what I wished for.
I wanted to save the world, and I hoped no one would get hurt. I wanted to be on the side of weak and kind supernatural beings.
But why…
The image of the man exploding in the air stayed in my mind.
“You’re almost healed. I think you can stop applying medicine.”
I applied the last medicine on Idrish’s back. I got a mild burn on my back due to the bomb exploding directly above Idrish last time. Fortunately, the injury wasn’t severe, and no scars were left.
Idrish stood up and put on his clothes. Since the curse located in his chest couldn’t be released, all treatments had to be done by my hands.
However, even though the treatment was over today, Idrish didn’t immediately leave.
“Why? Did I get something on my face? Something like beauty?”
I chuckled, touching my face.
“I heard you haven’t eaten a meal today.”
“Oh, that. I’m not very hungry today.”
“You’ve been like this for the past few days.”
Who told Idrish about this? I gave up trying to figure out the leaker, from kitchen staff to the maids in my room.
“In fact, I can’t eat well because the incident keeps coming to mind.”
I thought about it from the kitchen staff to the maids in my room but eventually gave up finding the rumor leaker.
“Still, it’s okay. It’s not like I’m starving to death. It’ll probably get better over time, right?”
I smiled courageously.
“Being a king seems difficult.”
I deliberately smiled courageously.
“But what should we do about this? There’s another piece of bad news.”
“What, what is it? Don’t tell me.”
I froze in place. I didn’t want to see such a scene anymore.
“The Cintilla supernaturals declared they are leaving our alliance.”
“Shayden?”
My heart dropped to the floor.
The unease of the territory residents and the lord voluntarily leaving the alliance were entirely different issues.
I thought of the slender Cintilla lord. He was extremely timid from the beginning.
“But leaving the alliance now would be even more dangerous, wouldn’t it? Agilla is plotting something. How can you leave so easily…”
“Serybian declared public support for the troublemakers.”
“As expected, it’s their doing.”
“Yeah. They promised various support and protection, so they told whoever wants it to come to their side.”
Now that one clan has left, it’s only a matter of time before other clans follow suit.
I let out a deep sigh. Then Idrish gently stroked my head.
“Don’t worry too much.”
“But… Serybian has a good reputation, and even in terms of force, they’re stronger than us. If someone has to be protected, it would be better on their side. What if all our alliances we’ve painstakingly gathered leave?”
“So, I’m trying to address the fundamental cause.”
“The fundamental cause?”
I stared at Idrish. His face, bathed in sunlight, was trustworthy and affectionate.
“Yeah. Artigrado is a tyrant, and Serybian is wrongly accused of not being one. It’s time to break free from that misconception. Only then can we receive complete support and ascend to the throne with a perfect image.”
“How do you do that? You can’t erase the past.”
“Remember when we found Erijo’s diary before? It recorded some of the past events.”
It was about when Perkop came to me, or rather, when Cecilia Erijo kidnapped me and manipulated the situation to involve Idrish in the rebellion.
“Yes, but that’s not enough.”
“We’ll find similar evidence. Artigrado’s actual deeds and what Serybian did, so that they can face it truthfully and judge for themselves without lies.”
“Where can we find it?”
Idrish’s eyes gleamed with a determined light.
“We’re going to Artigrado’s palace.”
Alright, that should work.
If the novel’s plot is followed, Perkop must have distorted the king’s orders when conveying them. If we see what the actual royal command was… If it was portrayed correctly, we could dispel the misconception that Artigrado’s royal family is a merciless tyrant.
The preparations to leave didn’t take long.
A few days later, when the departure day arrived, the courtyard of Skitass was bustling with no room to step.
Terminos Rovero and some leaders of supernatural beings, along with dozens of knights, decided to join us. Traveling with us at this time had a more profound meaning than just companionship.
It meant believing in the truth of Idrish’s past and willingly joining to find evidence.
“Load the luggage on the horses! Leave everything unnecessary behind.”
Everyone was busy.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
