His calm voice steadily retraced the past.

“A boy who was a sailor on that ship stepped forward, claiming he remembered the sea route. Naturally, the captain and passengers scoffed, saying it was nonsense—but in a fog like that, with no hope in sight, they had no choice but to try anything.”

And the boy accurately pointed out the direction in which the ship could escape the fog.

Although the compass spun wildly, a skilled navigator at the helm should still be able to cut through even the fog-blinded waters.

The real problem was the thick, tenacious seaweed that bound the ship fast, rendering it immobile.

Yet none among the terrified sailors and passengers dared approach the deadly sea—no one wanted to venture into that ominous fog, where death could swallow anyone at any moment.

The boy stepped forward again.

He requested a small boat be lowered, gripping a knife in his hand.
