Don't Be Kind Rashly (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 24
“That’s… that’s way too much of a leap.”
Lu forgot to take the stew Hayden offered and spoke instead. Her face, still pale despite having rested for a long while, had turned stark white from sheer shock.
“Then let’s just say I exaggerated.”
He nodded casually and held out the spoon a little further—urging her to eat.
But Lu couldn’t bring herself to accept it.
Could it really be true? Could Hayden’s words actually be right? Had her abilities been sealed so thoroughly that Carlos had been freely using them all this time while she couldn’t? Why would someone as powerful as Carlos even need another source of power?
Seeing her green eyes clouded with confusion, Hayden set the spoon down for a moment.
Lu was probably not herself right now, overwhelmed by shock. She’d want to deny it, to avoid this issue as much as possible. But she couldn’t do that.
“How about we deal with the problem right in front of us first, Lady Jenus?”
He spoke carefully yet firmly.
“You’ve learned today something you didn’t know for four whole years. Even if you don’t trust me, the symptoms you’ve personally felt are clear enough—you should at least believe what you saw with your own eyes.”
Lu, who had been listening quietly, carefully retraced the events surrounding her attempt to stab herself.
Hayden had provoked her—stabbing and scraping at her deepest wound. With her parents in such a predicament, there was no way she could possibly stab the Emperor. She’d chosen to stab herself instead—it seemed better than living.
And then she remembered the emerald-colored magic, her body drained of all strength, and Hayden’s distorted face as he apologized. She remembered it all.
“So it was a spell that would reveal itself only if I attacked Your Majesty? Is that why you provoked me?”

I’m not sure where Lu gets the patience to deal with Hayden. He’s like a bulldozer. He seems convinced he’s helping her yet he doesn’t consider her opinions throughout it all.
