Lu no longer wanted to know anything more about Perseta’s monster waves.
Knights in perfect uniforms were singing the “monster meat song” while methodically slaughtering the fleeing beasts.
The scale and power were overwhelming—something the Duchess of Caleta absolutely had to witness—yet she wasn’t sure whether to call this the might of the Imperialé or the raw desire summoned by meat.
Icarus landed quietly on the earth Hayden had just turned over.
The moment the griffin’s four feet touched the ground, Lu tore off every safety strap and leaped down. Ground! Ground! Real, walkable ground!

He had gone out of his way to let her down gently, yet she flinched away from the Emperor’s hand as if it were an insect and jumped first. Hayden descended a beat later, muttering gloomily. He had truly tried his best to treat her well.
“Your Majesty doesn’t care whether I do it or not anyway.”
If Hayden tried to grab her again, she would instantly flatten herself to the ground and cling to it like glue. Even though the Imperialé were slowly gathering around, dignity be damned—she would do it.

I’m not sure where Lu gets the patience to deal with Hayden. He’s like a bulldozer. He seems convinced he’s helping her yet he doesn’t consider her opinions throughout it all.
