He spoke to the source of all these desires.

“Ever since I fully settled in Chalea, I often came here alone. I used to ride Icarus to come and go, but later, that seemed too conspicuous…”

Hayden trailed off as he took a step forward.

“Put me down. I want to walk.”

“Isn’t it cold?”

“A little?”

After setting her down, Hayden quietly opened a small rift in space to retrieve his coat, likely placed somewhere in the palace, and draped it over Lu’s shoulders.

The soft blue fabric hung long and swayed in the breeze. A large hand, calloused from gripping a sword, tightly held a small, equally calloused hand and walked forward. They were nearing the edge of Baifel, where Lu had passed through.

“I came here every time I thought of Lu. This was the closest place to you.”

Instead of looking at the splendid scenery below, Hayden stared at the shimmering gate that could lead anywhere.

That gate currently connects directly to the walls of Katat. Beyond the wide-open gate, one might even see this side.
